Suggested Traditional Readings

So I've been thinking a lot lately, and in light of recent events, I think it's time I started my journey to Bodhisattva. I spent something like 4 hours researching and readings articles, posts, sites, and the like, all in effort to find the most core traditional methods and philosophies on meditation and whatnot.

So my question is: do any of you guys have any suggestions for books and journals that are as close to traditional methodologies as possible?

I do not how relevant this would be to you, but I recommend the Tao Te Ching. Its a Taoist scripture, but I'm sure you could benefit from it. It was written by Lao-Tzu around the time of the Buddha and it greatly influences Zen Buddhism (the sect I am in). Hope that helps.

I love it so far. Gonna finish it either tonight or tomorrow, then move on to find something else. I also got lucky and stumbled upon a traditional Tai Chi book for beginners. It has explanations, pictures, and directions. Can't wait to read that and learn with it while practicing meditation in the mornings. I also want to find that text that SherabDorje linked
