    Fair call. Perhaps the more that people read stuff like this, the more they believe it and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

    For the sake of balance - some people believe 2012 will be the beginning of a period of universal Enlightenment. I am not holding my breath for either the doomsday or the universal Enlightenment scenarios.

    Time will tell.

    No it doesn't, that's rubbish.
    What you mean is, we all know we have it coming sooner or later.
    Death is an inevitable certainty. There's plenty of warning, and it starts from when we take our first breath.
    The moment we're born, we're heading towards our own demise.

    Every single breath - is one breath less.

    We're just not paying attention.

    I think what he meant was that although death is certain, the exact time of death is uncertain. Maybe this is not what you meant Jeffrey?

    it sounds interesting, but i wish they had some sort of graphs that showed their statistics. i'm sure that there were plenty of wars and what not that don't fit their theory and i have to wonder if they're just cherry picking a little.

    Quite possibly.

    For some reason, shortly after reading this, my mind thought of Charles Manson...some of the worst stuff he got up to was on or pretty close to 1968 which was one of the peaks of the 11 year cycles.

    Run for the hills people :o Personally I will cross that bridge when and if it comes. It will be interesting to see what will happen, it is extraordinary what is happening now in the middle east/africa, also in London more recently.

    The more I think about this topic the more I come to the conclusion that "the best way to prepare for 'the end of the world' is by putting the Buddha's Teachings into practice to the best of our ability while we still can".

    It reminds me of something: I have heard (can't remember the source) that there are certain people who are on the Path to Stream-Entry and among those people there are those who "hold up the end of the universe" so that they may attain Stream-Entry before the universe ends.

    Going back 2 years now, the librarian at the school where my mother works in the UK is spiritual (I do not know which religion she belongs to if any). She once spoke to a buddhist monk who in fact said that around the time of 2012 the 'golden time' will come. From what I can gather, he said that those who are ready for this time will have no problems with dealing with whatever may happen. My memory fails me here as the words of what I was told are shady, but this was spoken over 2 years ago now... I shall contact my mother and ask her again about what she was told

    The more I think about and read the original link to this thread, the more it seems to make sense. that being said, there is no data provided for the so called 2,500 years back tracked solar cycle. But yesterday there was a very small earthquake in the UK... The UK, where there are no fault lines terribly close! That is earthquakes in New zeland, Japan, Burma/thailand and the UK within 5 weeks of each other.. All of the current uprisings that are occurring, one has to think that maybe there is some truth in this

    Please let’s get some perspective.

    Unfortunate history of a human kind i.e. violence /which we bring on ourselves/ and what nature dishes out our way is so big in numbers. Add to this the way statistic works and I can assure you that you can proof that some tragedy is in the direct positive correlation with the number of spaghetti people eat per year.


    Stop eating spaghetti and 2012 will not happen. :D

    when i was a junior in high school, my american history teacher told us that if we signed up for the army after we graduated, we would likely be in a war because america is consistently involved every 15-20 years (i forget exactly what time frame he said). but you know what... he was right.

    Very true.

    I wish USA with all this was after noble aims and not govern by people who have different objectives.


    Don't take me wrong , I am from Europe and we also have an illusion of democracy.
    Most of us are brainwashed to trust that politicians are honest and work for us.
    And follow their humanitarian reason for going into the war.

    Well the world is changing pretty dramatically at the moment, I know everything is under constant change, but if you look at the past 2 months, at everything that has happened from the natural disasters to all the uprisings, then it seems to fit. But then if you jam a puzzle piece hard enough, it will fit I guess. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next coming year, I am all too often a skeptic when it comes to conspiracies and end of the world stories, but this one seems to have a little more weight to it than anything else before
