Would you say that deep prayer - is like meditation, with God as the focus?

    Anyone can be the focus, can't they? If you pray for someone's health, or send blessings to someone. Buddhism has this type of prayer.

    What is "deep prayer", by the way?

    Yes. Brain studies such as electroencephalograms show similar brain activity.

    Read up on Thomas Merton. You'll see the correlation between Christian prayer or "contemplation" and Buddhist meditation.
