Why does Sarah Palin have so many supporters?

I know she will never become president, yet so many people seem
to support her.

Because she has good Christian values, like 80 percent of Americans. It doesn't matter if shes dumb as a doorknob - as long as she is a politician who follows Gods word, clearly she is better than that big-eared black Muslim fellow who is in office.

    Please tell me you're joking.

Don't be so sure. We elected Dumbya (well, actually we didn't elect him, but that's another argument for another day).

Gross exaggeration. She has a huge disapproval rate right now except among certain conservative Republicans...so 80% of Americans have nothing to do with the Palin phenomenon.

Orly? Well, people used to like her.
  • Hmm, how about dogmatic and misguided conservative values which are attributed to, in some part, selective and literal interpretation of the bible....giving the views a moral angle?

What you're asking is "Why is there ignorance?" Buddhists have a basic answer for that. Some people do not use their intellects to make political decisions.

I'm going to stop a second to continue my rant that this is not BuddhistsBashingChristians.com. People believe some things that we find strange, that's all. Ignorance is all over the world, in many religious and political movements.

I saw a poll on NBC yesterday. Donald Trump is tied for second among registered Republicans with Mike Huckabee. If I remember right, Romney was in first place, and he's a Mormon. Palin was not even mentioned. She may have a couple of percentage points.

Donald Trump is again questioning where Obama was born. What I would like to know is- where was Donald Trump's hair born?

There is ignorance in the world.

Well, here's the latest NBC poll results out just a few days ago:

"Sarah Palin is getting more bad polling news: her unfavorable rating has reached an all time high in a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey...53 percent of all Americans say they hold a negative or very negative view...while only 25 percent give Palin high marks...And less than 50 percent of Republicans polled have a favorable view...25 percent say they have an unfavorable view. When in comes to those without allegiance to a political party...more than half have an unfavorable opinion of her. Eight in ten Democrats do not have a favorable opinion of Palin."

Yea she could never be president, I have never seen a human being talk so much and say so little.

You could fit all her knowledge into a 4 x 4 index card. Front and back of course...

Thanks for the good news, Vinlyn. I wonder to what extent the Repub PR machine had an influence on creating the impression that she was popular.

Maybe a more practical thing to worry about would be the lack of vision and organization on the Democrat side. The Republicans have a political machine. The Democrats have...what? They seem pretty unfocussed.

    She reminds me of line in the song "Psycho Killer" by the Talking Heads;
"You start a conversation you can't even finish it.
You're talkin' a lot, but you're not sayin' anything."
    She is such a tool.
  • 25% give her high marks.
How many million Americans is that?
Are these people supporting her because she is a 'good' christian?
Maybe something is wrong with the education system.
Maybe these people are very normal n intelligent
and they really believe she can make USA great again.
I think it has lots to do with her looks.
  • no it has nothing to do with her looks. Republicans/conservatives support her because everything she says she backs up and makes sure that it happens. even if she's wrong she still goes through with it unlike obama. the second he says one thing he does another. lol has nothing to do with her looks or religion

Actually, I think you meant that you could fit all her knowledge in the palm of her own hand.

  • I have never seen a human being talk so much and say so little.
You've clearly never met my sister-in-law.
  • she hasn't been in the polls because she stated she had no wish to run for president. Donald trump may show ignorance but he is willing to dig into his own pockets to bail out the U.S. Ok i get it there is suffering in the world and the U.S. feels the need to come to everyones aid. But right now were in a financial crisis and focus on ourselves rather than others in my humble opinion.

Why should you rehabilitate a drug user when you yourself are a user?

That's exactly why she *can* get elected in America. We did it (or not, depending on your view) with Dumbya - twice. He's at least as dumb as Sarah is.

  • how we elected obama is still baffling me.....

Finally, a supporter in this forum.
If palin looked like Janet Reno or that journalist(cant
remember her name, she had the front seat at white house
    press briefings) that was
sacked because she made a remark that Jews didnt like.
her support level would be 5% not 25%.
No offense to women, I believe in gender equality.

    journalist Helen Thomas.
  • I would vote for Lady Gaga before I voted for Palin
  • how we elected obama is still baffling me.....
How so? A very intelligent, worldly, well educated, reasonable person. We should have elected the poster child for Bitter Old Men and his sidekick Sarah?
  • Why does it matter if she has supporters? She'll never beat Obama. Neither will Trump too.
