Explain to me dualism vs nondualism

I've always had a strong belief that no one is separate. That we're all simply the same, yet living different acts -per say.
I understand that's non dualism. But, what about a spiritual and physical world? Wouldn't that be dualism?
Help clarify please.

  • Sorry, but the title was funny. Think about it.

lol I know, and I doubt I can completely clarify my self. I just have a non dualistic view of everything (like I said, we're all one) but at the same time, I have a dualistic view on reality.

dualism is created by thinking. you call someone by a label, thus you assert its lack there of as well.

so for example, there is an apple. you also assume that there is also a lack of apple.
or for there to be an object, you need a background. for there to be evil there needs to be good.
essentially you are fragmenting reality into two groups. aka separation.

now non dualism has a simple formula. Assert A. Assert B. Negate A. Negate B. This is saying every opinion/position and then negating every opinion/position. So there is an apple. there is no apple. there is no an apple. there is no no apple.
thus you come to the conclusion of reality as it is with no separation. reality has no inherent labels. thus you have non dualism.

remember thinking causes dualism. when you don't think meaning when you are just aware of the moment you are in a non-dual state of mind. from here you can just see, taste, hear, smell, etc as pure consciousness. now as soon as you overlay a label on top of this you create duality.

thus form is emptiness and emptiness is form.

    hope this helps.
  • there is no real distinction between the physical and spiritual world other than the arbitrary labels we assert.
if it is physical then everything has to be a physical phenomena. if it is spiritual everything has to be spiritual.

you cannot call one thing spiritual and another thing not spiritual and vice versa. as you mention that is dualism.

but once you realized non-dualism then you can spit out dualism all you want. since all communication can only be in dualism. but realize that "communication" is a method to get to the silence aka non dualism. if you listen to "non-dual" teachers they say a lot of things but at the same time they say nothing. the point is to get you to stop "intellectualizing" and get to a simple silence.

The smarter you are the less you know. And those who think they know, really don't know.

Remember there is only the infinite. even when you fragment the infinite, it is still the infinite.

and you use the world "belief". cast all beliefs aside. and existential examine in the moment what is happening.
people have realizations all the time but i see people clinging to them.

if it is a true realization then it should be available to you in every moment. you could even say the very "now" is the realization of non-dualism.

and for future reference. when you abide in "non-dual awakening" which is in your "being" or stillness. From that emptiness arises love. Love meaning action. This action is non-intentional and you could call it flow in a way. From that flow you will operate and at the same time be in an inner stillness or being. good luck!
