So who is guilty of this and to what extent?

  • In the past when I was stressed, I used to wish I was a kid again, life was so easy then, not so complicated.
Can't say that happens much since I became a Buddhist, I think I am better at dealing with stress now but I do have my moments like when I hear a song and then happy memories come flooding back.

  • I'd have to say today is the day I will one day look back and think about how good it was. I have a loving wife of many years and while she's struggled with health issues in the past and certainly will be in the future, right now she's doing good. I have a job I enjoy, with bosses who appreciate my work, and enough money to pay the bills without struggling for once, even if we don't have much left over. My lifelong goal of getting some of my stories published finally arrived, and a few people bought my books and told me they enjoyed my stories.

So yes, these are the good times I'll one day look back on and smile about, if I live that long.
  • Good for you Cinorjer, sincerely. I have been working on a dark novel for a while, I am aware how hard it is to get something published. I desire to some day when it is complete..

Anyway, shamefully most of my nostalgia comes from nights where me and a friend of mine at the time use to take ecstasy, venture off into the woods or somewhere and sit with music and have deep conversations for hours on end. Often When I think I think back to those times, it almost feels the same as a break up from a relationship! How sad lol
  • Really nice Cinorjer, :)

  • I'm not "guilty" of it, but we all do it. There's no guilt associated with it for me. It's just a memory that's pleasant. I always try to also remember that despite our nostalgia (ie: for a "simpler time"), there has always been suffering and unpleasantness. Even the best times we remember had all the bad things under them that have always existed in human experience. We just remember the good parts and filter out the bad stuff.

  • who is guilty for what?
  • attaching to the past and anybody who cares to post
  • i think nostalgia intoxication is an epidemic...it often sneaks up on me seemingly out of nowhere...music especially triggers it...
