where to learn

I have recently taken a great interest in Buddhism and would like to know more about the practices and history of it. Is a meditation center where I need to go, What activities do you do there? If I do go, what are some of the customs. as in remove your shoes at the door or wear certain clothes while there and etc.?

    @woods93 -- It might be easier to answer your questions if you specified what school of Buddhism interested you. Customs and rituals vary, although the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path remain constant.
