My mind is all over the place.
I can't stop thinking about things.
Future, present, past.
I can't stop and just meditate.
Money, school, life and etc...
Can you guys help?:(

  • Didn't this come up for you a few months ago, Leon? I vaguely recall there was a thread where some members gave you tips about breathing technique. If you do the breathwork correctly, it helps calm your system, so your thoughts should calm down as well.

Nope, I haven't asked this question before.
This is a bit more specific.
It has to do with living and not just during the meditation.
    Thank you both!

if you find it useful, use it,
if not i wish the best for you.

in time you will find peace of mind or here right now.
  • Well, you sound stressed. Meditation with correct breathing helps take the edge off the stress. That calm can carry over into the rest of daily life. Qi Gong or Tai Chi is helpful, too.

Try to worry. Yes try to worry. Spend 30 minutes trying to worry. Then you've done it and tomorrow you can worry again for 30 minutes. If you do anything 30 minutes every day if its anywhat worthwhile it should have results so your worrying will be effective provided it had any chance to be helpful in the first place. By giving yourself a rest in between the worrying that you do do will be more effective.

    Thanks everyone!
I just need to be more mindful, it might help.
And then just focusing on the breath whenever I feel stressed.

i can be quite the worrier and i have had a bad problem with anxiety in the past, so i understand. when i catch myself worrying about things i cannot affect, i try to catch myself and retrain my thought patterns. thoughts of past mistakes used to keep me up at night as i relived the scene in embarrassment or horror. but i have learned a few things. worries about the future, present and past require different action.

worries about the past should be let go. there is nothing you can possibly do about the past, so why worry about it? to do so is simply beating yourself up. instead, just try to remember the lessons learned (if there is one).

worries about the present shouldn't be worries at all. sometimes i get so worried, i get depressed, and then i do nothing. but the best attitude is to simply JUST DO IT (like nike). whatever it is that's bothering you, if you can take care of it here and now, just get it over with. you'll feel a lot better if you do. if there are a lot of different things going on, it can be helpful to make a list so you can work on them one at a time so you don't feel so overwhelmed.

like the past, worries about the future shouldn't be focused on. worries about the future are always pure speculation, because who knows what might transpire.

the point is that you want to keep your mind positive and productive. contemplating the approach to a situation is productive, however, simple worry is not.
