  • Actually this kind is very important and also exists in old cultures. For example: Monks would not be really able to teach people how to behavior regarding Monks and Monks (if they really keep the vinaya) to response to lay questions and in the kind they approach.

So its a very important, especially if there is no cultural knowledge (out of simply following how the elders did).

It would make it possible that Bhikkus can continue there way without falling back into worldly habits. So it makes the Bhikkhus free to be able to continue and gives a great possibility that people are able to understand there ways even they dont have any glue about vinaya (monkrules)

I'm only wondering why there is the need to give it a label "new". *smile* The Japanese missionaries did that since long.
  • Very interesting. I'm just a little curious, however - what is the difference between a pastor and a Buddhist priest in other schools such as Jodo Shinshu? When trying to find out the difference between a pastor and priest, the only results I get deal with Christianity. What about in Buddhism?

This is pretty new really Tsem Rinpoche came up with this idea. I think pastor is just a generic term for a lay teacher or a new breed of lay teacher to forefront the ideal buddhist lay practitoner for people to aspire to become.
All the success to him and Kechara he does great benefit for others. :)
  • One problem is that it could be also a official legitimation of Dharma business, I have no idea about how a Pastor would make his livelihood. *smile* So he would easy need to teach what the crowd likes to hear.
If he is working by him self, he also has his limits. So would be very interesting what the thought of prevention of "turning left" would be. *smile*
