India

I've been attracted to many places in my life. At certain times I've been really interested in certain places. Places such as Australia, or Canada, or China, or Japan, or Thailand. Though, I've never been really all that interested in India. I find this strange considering it is the birthplace of Buddhism, and Hinduism, and is a very spiritual place. Alas, I just don't feel any kind of personal pull towards India. Any idea why this may be? What do you guys think about India, and what personal attractions to certain places do you have?

I went to India after attending a slide show by a photographer who'd been. I had some money to blow, so decided to go there. I didn't have any strong feeling about it being spiritual. Mostly I found it to be hot, crowded, and dirty. In all the towns and villages you will be ankle deep in debris. I didn't mind the goats, dogs and cows in the street, but by the end of my month there I was fed up with the garbage!

"hot, crowded, and dirty" That's kind of how I perceive it in my mind.

Ditto. Except for Northern India, the foothills of the Himalayas. That's quite beautiful, cool, not very crowded.

I've got an attraction to everything about India that I can't explain.
  • like everywhere it has it's pros and cons. It is one dirty country though, full of people and disease. Plenty of animals that can easily kill, plenty of scams and child theives. But it has it's charm, shrouded in religious roots, some beautiful beaches and architecture and it's well cheap :p

I'm with CW, the north is better than the rest. It is hot, crowded, and dirty, and don't forget smelly.
