i really loved this talk

  • His group, Against the Stream, has a pretty good regular podcast (just recordings of their lectures). It has talks by Noah and other teachers associated with ATS. It's available on droid and iTunes.

thanks! i put some of his Dharma talks on my phone today :)
  • I liked his apparent definition of dogma: 'talking about it rather than doing it'
  • I think the danger is to take the four noble truths as the four mundane truths. As (my) lama shenpen says: she still practices because she notices how resistant she is to change. If I recall correctly at least! Now if a lama who is in retreat for so long and teaching all her waking hours so long... oh boy what about me?
  • I enjoyed this... I like how he handled the questions. He seemed more comfortable answering the questions than delivering his lecture.

That is really what convinced me that this man has achieved a pretty high level of attainment. A few of those questions were bordering on direct attacks and one of the guys asking questions was extremely arrogant. What got me was that he didn't seem to need to try to 'handle' the questions... His mind was automatically equanimous and compassionate and his answers flowed comfortably.
  • I could tell that he was challenged himself in how to respond to questions. I liked how in one question he asked what the questioner's concern was. I forget which one, but it showed that he was interested in finding out or exploring rather than just defending a line in the sand.
  • Thanks for sharing,

i didn't know the man or his story before.

    I liked it.

his story is quite interesting and inspiring as well.
