My Introduction

edited January 2012 in General Banter
Hello everyone.
I've been here on the forum for a month or so and have responded to a handful of posts. I figured I should formally introduce myself. Like a few others I've seen around here, I have little experience with forums so please have patience with me.

On paper I was raised Catholic. I was baptised and had my 1st communion. My parents primarily did this for thier families and in the end allowed me and my siblings to chose our own faiths. This didn't sit well with my extended family but that's a story for another day. I've always been a fan of theology and have studied/dabbled in many of the great and not so great religions. I've always been drawn to Eastern philosophies and my search for my faith seemingly ended when I found Buddhism.

Where my practice is lacking is with a Sangha. That's what brings me here. I've yet to visit a temple or have any actual interaction with other Buddhists. I've seen other people from my area here (Detroit MI) and would welcome any suggestions or recommendations for temples/sanghas in the area.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Kangaroo. I'm also new and have been lurking around for a few weeks before officially joining. I look forward to the discussions here, and engaging with others in this space.

I'm fairly new to my practice, and I'm sure this will be a tremendous resource to help me grow.
  • In any sangha / temple, just feel the peace and joys when participating their activities. i had a sangha/temple that always in peace and love, that is the meditativeness mind neither from the beginning nor ending or emptinessly serene according to buddha : D
  • Thanks @spaceless I'll take your advice. Thank you.
Welcome @weighted, a great new journey we now begin.

@Zombiegirl is in Detroit. Maybe she'll have a suggestion. Maybe the two of you can start a sangha.

There seem to be quite a few Buddhist centers in Detroit ... the great god google offered them after a query as simple as "Detroit Buddhism."

    Best wishes.
