edited January 2012 in Buddhism Basics
I've gotten more and more interested in Pema Chodron and wonder...who here knows about Shambhala? Any info out there???

I'd try googling it some. The origin is from the Kalachackra tradition and refers to a mystical enlightened kingdom. Pema Chodron's lineage is from Chogyam Trungpa, in that particular sense its more of a symbolic interpretation.

Relevant to Pema Chodron I would check out Sacred Path of the Warrior by Trungpa Rinpoche

I think the Berzin archives are more Gelugpa

I was going to mention Three Dog Night, but I didn't know if anyone here would be old enough to get the relate.

    I love this song!

  • I live fairly close to a very large Shambhala center, and have visited it a few times. My impression is that they are very thorough, very marketing-savvy, concentrate on the "user experience" and their seminars are well organized and pricey. The facility itself is magnificent, peaceful, impeccably maintained.

And I love that song too!
