I can take them, but I suspect that psychologically I am often subconsciously tending to mark more toward the center than would be perfectly honest.

I agree. I think that often happens with surveys that tackle complex issues. The questions/responses don't allow one to respond to different aspects of a particular topic.

At best, they're fun...but they also include biases of the author(s).
