edited February 2012 in Buddhism Basics
I would like to eventually be able to sit in full lotus, do you guys have any tips or exercises?

Yes, don't bother. Full lotus won't give you insight only bad knees.

Sorry guys new to the site, should have done a search first I'm sure there's quite a few threads on this. I've heard about the knee problems, are there any good alternatives? I feel distracted sitting cross-legged because I have to keep adjusting myself

  • Have you tried Burmese style? This is how I meditate even though I can do full lotus. I came to meditation practice after a long practice of Kundalini yoga; most of the sitting poses are done with the legs in Burmese style. So this is more comfortable for me for extended periods of time and just feels more natural.

Check out this site for a good posture primer.

  • Weighted, I have not tried Burmese style. I am pretty new to these postures, I usually meditate sitting or walking. I'll give it a try.

    That site looks helpful person.

    Thank you guys
