um so those little addictions, ....

I am working on my checking account in My Money program. It has been a few years since I really tracked things (I had a temper tantrum from the foreclosure I guess). Now I will easily be able to run a report and see my addictions in a colorful display.

It is Starbucks. I am spending any chance of kids college on those hot frothy treats, sigh.

I know better than to go cold turkey, and at all of those addiction meetings they have hot drinks so I would just run back. So once a week, grande not venti, and then taper down as we get into iced tea season, right!

On a side note this has been the major task of the day, but by trying to put it off a few more hours I have managed to declutter and re-organize the recipe binder and scrub the bathroom with excessive bleach for mildew and finish a crochet baby hat. You can get so much done while avoiding :o

  • Why don't you buy the tazo tea bags at the grocery store and make it at home.

You can also buy espresso and learn to make those drinks.
  • pshwaaaw, see I have a whole list of excuses, I mean reasons, why I must do this.

the people watching, the correct temperature, the um, the,...

Okay I will make tea at home for 6 days now! I waited 2 hours at the dentist this morning so that was my one treat for the week, ...
  • First thing id wanna say. Stop being robbed by starbucks.
  • personperson Don't believe everything you think The liminal space Veteran
Yes, making stuff at home is so much cheaper. Even if you buy the really good gourmet stuff.
  • actually I added it up, not as bad as I thought. And when I can I go to an independant coffee shop. I have spent so many years staying home that I just love getting out among grownups, there is usualy no one at home.

If nothing else I am getting a better idea of why I value sitting in a coffee shop, and then I can make adjustments other places.
  • You are so spoiled op!

    You need liberation...

    See link

Hopefully it will take you there.

  • The little addictions and pleasures we allow ourselves really do add up, don't they?

A $4 latte every day is almost $1,500 a year.

    Detach! Detach!

    :)
  • Oh no, not every day. oh dear.

but once a week to get out of the house, even if I don't have a friend to meet with, I think I can handle that. Sometimes it creeps up when I have lots of stressful meetings. That is not good.
  • I was using the daily habit example as I know many people who get coffee on their way to work, at lunch, etc. I'm glad to hear you keeping Starbucks in business isn't nearly as bad as that! :)
  • Is there a nice arboretum you could go to and bring a mug of whatever you drink with you?

What do you drink? Chai...I can't remember.
  • Yeah, I started talking about it as a bad habit and at some point realized how much I look forward to a little interaction away from home, without kids being on my case, maybe sitting with my tiny computer or nook. Our society is so isolated already, to spend even more time alone at home. But I suppose some people have others at home so making tea at home does not equal being totally alone each time.
  • Oh, you can definitely make chair patted at home, they sell the mix at the store...its half mix, a.shot of vanilla and half milk.
  • Typo chai ...not chair...damn swype
    .
  • A few pumps of vanilla, half chai mix, half steamed milk...there.
