I honestly can't think of a single person I HATE, but there are certainly things I may not like about that person. No one is perfect. Maybe we notice things in others related to ourselves, in the form of jealousy or suspicion, but real, gut-wrenching hatred is pretty extreme. Granted, I've been blessed with a life relatively free of drama, so I may be talking out of my backside.
Also - I think we use "hate" very freely these days, without thinking about the emotional depth required. Same with "love."
For such a person without the heart energy they have to go into their experience. On the cushion and in their life. Start where they are. It is never too late. In all the countless eons Bodhisattvas willingly go into these states to learn what they are. Buddha was sliced into a number of pieces by king and he didn't blame the king.
