@LeonBasin who? You mean me, me and my partner, Thai people or poor people in general?
    You, Thai and in General.
  • What do I do for fun, well firstly I post on here for a few reasons, one being to help others or to give advice, another reason is to talk with people, socialize and the other reason is to ask questions. I play poker from time to time, I have some plants I take care of instead of having children, it is easier. If I go out I like to casually talk with thai locals as I practice my Thai and it is a different experience every time. I spend a lot of time talking with my GF, go for walks to the beach and enjoy nature. That is pretty much it I guess, oh and yoga. I do not even have a phone anymore, I gave it to my partners son along with some clothes I no longer wanted. I seem to be shedding layers of my life like an onion, and it feels good :)

As for that Thais, I dunno. The drink a lot of whisky, it is the nations drink. But you cannot put them all into on category and say they all like to do this, the same goes for poor people in general.

Thanks for sharing! Interesting life you have. What about your friends? What does one do? Specifically, a person who doesn't have much income for fun/entertainment and in general "living."
  • Um well okay let me see, I have no foreign friends as such here anymore. I have a few friends who are taxi drivers, but it is nothing like you would imagine in the west. They all have like the same coloured shirt, each taxi ferm wears a different colour and I know a lot of them personally. But lets take this one group, for work they start at around 3pm and they all hand out at the end of the market with signs saying taxi etc, trying to get business. When 9-10pm comes around, they all chip in and buy whisky, soda and ice and casually drink whilst trying to get custom. They sometimes place this dice game which I cannot understand, but gambling is illegal apart from the lottery. The lottery is taken very seriously here, but there is a big underground gambling ring for football and stuff. A lot of what the thais do for fun, from the people I know anyway, is to simply socialize and converse, share information and gossip. Thai men are notorious for being playboys, that is something within their culture also. I dunno Leon, just really simple things that others may find really normal. Thais are hard workers, everyone seems to wake up really early and they work hard long hours. The English football league is a huge thing here as it is in many many countries, apart from the US.
