This one has been around for a while..... but I love this guy. Vintage Soviet Pop. This meme revived his career in a tongue-in-cheek way..... and he accepted it with grace.

A meme (pronounced meem) is a term created by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins to describe a phenomenon where an element of a culture or behavior is passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means.

So, in internet terms, if something gets really popular on the internet and is shared a lot of people, that becomes a meme.

The internet meme is just one use of the word. Memes are a core component of the "spiral dynamics" model of view/value development.

...which is a whole different kettle of fish..

Dude, it's pronounced meem? Never knew that.. like all of the other words that I learned from "reading" that I pronounce differently in my head until someone makes me feel stupid... :)

  • No kidding, right! I still like it as me-me.

Meme as in sounding like gene.

As much as I liked the tune in the OP. The only people here that speak russian are @LeonBasin and @compassionate_warrior, that I know of. So how do you expect the rest of us to understand what the heck he's singing about? :buck:

It looks like he's lip-sync-ing. He looks like a howdy-doody character, live. Doesn't he look like that puppet?

It's post-USSR. They still maintain the Red Army Choir and tour it around the world. If the Finns pay them enough, they'll do anything. The Leningrad Cowboys are a Finnish group, using Red Army back-up. Catchy, isn't it? :D
