Lately, well the last couple of months my girlfriend has been having issues with anger, with stress, bad luck etc. The other day she was laying down on the floor face up relaxing, half asleep as she put it. I was in the shower and she called out my name. So when I had finished I said what, and she said who is here? I replied "well, me and you Lin of course." She said "did you just walk by my then?" I repeated that I was in the shower. She did not catch a good glimpse of the face of this person but the person seemed my age and a guy.

So today our neighbour (not the crazy one to the left, the one to the right), suggested Lin went to this woman to talk with her at her house. I did not go as I felt no need. I am unbias by the way on the whole paranormal thing. Anyway, the woman asked if she had ever miscarried (this was before Lin mentioned seeing someone. She went there because of her recent luck emotiond etc). Lin had in fact been pregnant a long time ago with her ex before she had two kids. In Thailand there is a way of aborting early on that requires drinking certain alchol and spices and apply pressure to the womb, so they did that. It obviously left Lin feeling rather sad. The woman suggested that this person as her unborn baby grown up but not knowing where to go and clinging to his mother. This so say is also causing problems in our house. So she suggested to lin that she had better go to this specific temple and conduct a ritual with the monks on helping this spirit leave.

I don't know what to make of it all, I have seen shadows and things in the corner of my eye for a while, but I thought I would post it as I know there are quite a few paranormal buffs out there in NB land.

Comments

  • If Lin had said no to the first question, there would have been a second or third until the woman had figured it out.

You can dream in half sleep, and if you look for shadows you will find them.
  • Yes I thought this, dreaming whilst half asleep, but hey, I am going to go along with it as I am her partner and all of this is in their culture so..

You've seen shadows and stuff 'out of the corner of your eye'... so do I all the time.
    It's called peripheral distortion.
It happens occasionally if you move your eyes sideways too quickly. The image your eyes are seeing, blurs and shifts, but it looks like a separately moving image.
(My eyes are long overdue an eye test.)
If you wear glasses, use a computer a lot, and haven't had an eye test for a while, it's worth getting your eyes checked...

and I'm afraid i'm with Telly here on the 1-2-3 questioning.....

I used to have quite a lot of 'waking dreams'. Here are a few examples:

-woke up with a woman standing on my bed.
    - felt a presence standing over me and literaly shot out of bed and ran out of the room
    - the wall above my head had disappeared and there was a bees nest there. Shot out of the room.
    - woke up and saw a disembodied head grinning at me. This happened twice with the same vision.
    - In sleep paralysis, felt a cat slinking over me, and couldn't move. Started sprouting fur and turned into a cat. meow!
    - woke up to a tapping on my window. Saw a dark figure outside. Oh hang on, this one was real. It was my friend dressed as a ninja knocking me up at 3:00am.

(not joking about any of these!)

Interesting. I don't know. I have had interesting experiences. I have seen shadow people. I don't know what to take away from it anymore. I just let go. But thanks for sharing! Hope it works out.
  • And what a cruel guilt trip to put on someone... So Lin was already dealing with stress, and now this woman just dumped the burden of her past on her :(
  • I dunno, Lin seems to feel happier today. At first she was a bit lets say, lost in her thoughts, but she has been reading these prayers and stuff to herself, and she feels content and is 'bouncy'. But you are right, that is a lot to add to someones basket of burdens.
  • I don't believe in ghosts but if a ritual cleaning helps Lin than do it. So long as you're not charged a crap load of money.
  • lol, no thereis basically no money involved. The thing is, the culture is so into this thing, westerners are quick to dismiss it. As I said, I am unbias, I don't really have much o an opinion, I am just open minded.

IMO when having some type of strange experience its really important to investigate and be realistic about the experience. Alternate explanations should be explored before one decides on the conclusion that its something like the spirit of an unborn child. It may be like others have said, a waking dream, a misinterpreted shadow, or maybe even a spirit but not of the unborn child.

I feel that subjective experience is valid but its not the case that anything goes, there still needs to be a course of verification.
  • I am just riding the trip my friend. I am letting her go along with it because I know that the culture is so that I would be like one person going against the world. I can have my opinions and views, but the will remain in my head. I also know that when she does what she needs to do, it will make her feel better and happier for doing so, be it real or not.

Being open to someone else's beliefs is a wonderful gift to them, and often ends up being a gift to yourself.

Not being Thai, this sounds highly skeptical to me... however, what isn't skeptical is that if what this woman said resonated with your girlfriend, then she may still have some baggage over the abortion experience. Regardless of how this is taken care of, those emotions are very real and if it's a cleansing ceremony that will help take her guilt from the experience, then that is important.

Whether it's real or not, studies show that placebos have the power to work, don't they?

Sorry no have, go find something yourself your lazy yack! hehehe
  • Lazy yaks? Lol...man, I thought it was yanks!

    Me....pillow......zzzzz
  • lol, sorry I thought his pic was a yack, but maybe it is a lamma or sumin, I dunno...
  • Whether Thai monks actually have the ability to get rid of spiritual affinities or not, they do have the ability of affecting ones mind with placebo. The placebo affect of your girlfriend believing that the ritual has done something positive, or that the prayers help can be a good thing as you're seeing. So I think you're doing the right thing to not dismissing what the culture believes. It's different when you're a tourist, but if you live there, then best not alienate yourself.

Knowing if there ghost, spirit, or anything else is real or not, shouldn't really matter, what matters is what your girlfriend feels is going on. The mind is very powerful, and if any part of her feels this maybe whats going on, then support her in doing what ever it takes to resolve it. If she feels it's something else then support that. However it is, that it is affecting her isn't so important and resolving it.

BTW, I do believe there are entities beyond our general sight and/or understanding, I don't have a clue what they are or where they come from, but I have had things happen to me, that were absolutely unexplainable and freaked me out, but never were they harmful. Still I slept with the lights on more than a few times in my life. :)
  • I consider there to be a hell of a lot of phenomena that goes on in this universe that as humans we cannot relate to, sense or understand. I am not saying this whole situation with my GF is a reality, but I am of course standing by her and will do what she 'neds' to do with her so she feels at ease. Like a placebo yes, but sometimes they are a great medicine.
  • At least it doesn't scratch you whilst you sleep. Then leave in the morning as though it was nothing. Damn it Bill, talk to me! :-/

What's the scratch report, @Sagat? Maybe Billy finally went where she belonged. Do let us know if there are any more encounters. And please let us know if you get into the college program you mentioned.
