Is there such a thing as almost pure evil? Are there beings of almost pure evil? I saw this show on the discovery channel where this investigator wanted to see what was going on in this haunted house. There was a lot of creepy evil things going on. The investigator opened the door to the basement of the house and at the bottom of the steps was a demon that looked like a man and the man opened his mouth and shot fire out of his mouth and the investigator was scared to death and he shut the door as fast as possible and left as quick as possible. He said he NEVER wants to see anything like that again. He as so shook up by that experience. What the hell is that.

Don't believe haunted house shows. Not too much. Anyone can fake anything with special effects.

A-P, you worry too much. You're going to be ok. Don't scare yourself. Avoid shows that aren't uplifting. Avoid negativity and scary images. Avoid violent shows. The eyes are the windows to the soul, and you don't want to let in just any kind of images or energy into your heat/soul. Be protective of your inner being.

I don't KNOW the answer to the OP. But if you can have some degree of goodness, it would seem to me that you would also have to have an equal degree of badness (evil?). Or are we just choosing to go with goodness since it feels nice?

I personally have not met every person in the world, but I consider there to be elements in pretty much everyone which are virtuous. Everyone operates under ignorance and delusion, fueled by deulsions, so I think maybe it is not a case of being naturally evil, but just way off understanding reality. I don't know, that is just my idea on the subject.

These shows need ratings...your life is too precious to waste your time on some crock pot ghostbuster and their psychic, who at best is a mentalist.

If real demons existed, they would want you to believe they did not. If you actually saw one, you wouldn't live to tell about it and they only work behind the scenes.

Real evil exist because men and women exist and have free will.

Nothing supernatural about that. Next question.

The guy that saw the demon was not a mentalist or a psychic. He was an investigator with equipment. I don't even know if he is visiting haunted houses after that.

If you saw a demon you may or may not die. I think many demons are depressed and have deficiencies that Christians don't know or talk about that makes them unable to fully function and create evil and make havoc.

Just like one can attain enlightenment, one can also attain pure egohood.

Emptiness means infinite potentiality. If we can imagine it, then its probably possible.

I have thought about this. That might be true. I don't know.

this is why I believe hell is temporary. As does traditional Judaism and Islam. God's judgement is tempered with mercy...it would be in his nature to reclaim hell, if it was a whisper of a thought in the mind of one of his creations

The dalai lama speaks about the most destructive and evil enemy to a person is their afflictive emotions. You cannot run away from them, they do not simply give up, unlike an external enemy which you can even learn from, these afflictive emotions will cause you mental suffering and evntually physical suffering. I could go and look into my book and type type type, but right now I cannot be arsed.

Oh I dunno, I imagine somewhere there is someone who gets off on causing suffering to people on every conceivable level. I think that's about as close you can get, bearing in mind that good and evil are entirely subjective.

@Arthurbodhi LMAO, that did make me laugh, thanks. I saw this video where a crow starts a fight between two cats, it then watches it and eventually the cats fall down a set of stairs fighting and the bird seems to hav le enjoyed it lol. I will look for it.

Hallucinations due to mental illness, depression, fatigue, extreme stress, the onset of mental illness, drug usage, or a good imagination. It's pretty easy to see things in the dark that aren't actually there, especially if you're in a mindstate to see such things. I'd bet you that if I turned all my lights out right now, I could stare at the corner of my room and eventually see a scary face.

I remember when I was a real little kid, I slept over at my super-religious cousins house. He was raised to be the most conservative, most sheltered and religious kid I've ever met. He was terrified of everything. When I was sleeping beside his bed in a sleeping bag, he leaned over his bed to talk to me. It was real dark in the room, so he could barely see me - but suddenly he got this horrified look on his face. He starts freaking out and saying I had demonic facial features. Of course, he only saw that because it was dark and he was probably afraid of seeing that because of his upbrining - thus, he saw what he thought he'd see.
