Have you ever tried one of his meditation techniques ?

I tried his Whirling Technique for about 45 minutes and I don't think I ever want to try it ever again. Perhaps his techniques aren't for me..but he did say the nausea would leave after two or three days however there's no way I'm going to do it once more. Loving Kindness Meditation, Breathing Meditation, and Walking Meditation have been the best for me so far. I notice Loving Kindness meditation usually precedes happiness. Anyways what are your thoughts on Osho ?.

Some of what Osho said are ok for beginners, but still it is not Buddhism. I wouldn't see him as an authoritative source on learning Buddhism.

I think he had some nice cars.
  • I know nothing! I keep seeing the books though in shops but have never actually picked one up and opened it.

I don't know much about the man, but I do know some of his followers participated in the first biological attack on US soil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984_Rajneeshee_bioterror_attack

I have a friend that's into his tarot system.

Agree. He lost me right after the term "new age thought movement."
  • I watched a youtube video about the practices going on as experimental techniques. I'm curious if any positive discoveries were made.

    A man with wrong views.
  • I have one of his books...he has a lot of wisdom, but like xabir said he is not the authority on buddhism.

my thoughts are Osho was some dude who was very charismatic and saw a business opportunity in spirituality.

Went on to read a bunch of stuff on it and present a presentable product that people bought into.

Went on to become very successful businessman.

there are plenty of honest teachers to guide us, no need to go to any of these commercial guru's.
