anybody switch hands?

edited May 2012 in General Banter
So recently my right arm has been very sore. I carry 2 laptops some days for work (yeah I know, get out the rolling cart again) and never leave them in my car. I tend to carry everything on my right side and it is really getting to be a problem. So I decided to switch sides for as many tasks as I can and let the right arm rest. Today I wrote out a check with my left hand, I wrote the grocery list, carried my purse and am attempting to eat lunch (I am sloppier).

I am wondering how many things this will affect, hmm. Maybe just needing a bib to eat and having worse handwriting LOl

I'm right handed but I purposefully brush my teeth with my left so that its not so clumsy since at times in my work I need to use my left hand.

I write with my right hand, but play ping-pong/tennis/rounders with my left.
I also lead off with my left foot when walking.

Ambidexterity is a sign of high intelligence.
  • My dad is very practical and so he taught himself to eat partially with his left hand so he would be more efficient cutting and eating meat without switching hands.

So do you think I could switch hands to create intelligence? Hmm, We always have team builders/ice breakers to start our meetings. One was to share a talent that others did not know or was just unusual. I went to the white board and write backwards and with my left hand. Now ask me directions and expect I can correctly tell you left and right, you better have GPS
  • I often carry things with my left hand/arm on purpose because it is such a lame part of my body. I will drink with it, carry plates/dishes etc, but I cannot write with it. I did suffer from saturday night palsy where that hand was totally numb and out of order for 4 months, so they may have added some extra derrrr to it. My left leg also feels stupid. I was sat down and after some yoga was twirling my foot in circles, I realized my left foot can't complete a full circle with flow, it kind of jerks and my brain does not communicate with it as well as my right side...

I understand that ambidexterity is common in left handed people; and in fact it is more the rule .

    Uh, ehehehehehe...
  • In Yoga we make a point of trying to balance everything out between both sides. Once my awareness was brought to this, I began to realize just how twisted (literally) I am.

Many of the tasks we do where we start with the same side every time can be changed just by being aware of your movement and switching sides. You may be surprised to discover just how prevalent this is.
