meditation does not lead to any palpable changes? What are we to do, then?

What @vinlyn said. Also, meditation doesn't lead to palpable changes overnight, or on it's own. That's why the noble eightfold path has eight distinct categories, only two of which fall under what we'd call meditation.

Meditation didn't really work for me, but focused thinking (mindfulness) has.

With a long enough time line, everything changes.

With a short enough time line, everything changes.
  • I thought only meditation led to nibana. Did the Buddha recommend anything else?
  • According to the site below- it takes more than meditation; it takes more than the 5 precepts, it takes the entire 8 fold path and all the precepts as well as dawn to dusk meditations... one must have no other distractions, of any sort, at any time, for months or longer to hope to reach Nibbana.

However, this is the kind of teaching/site/information that makes me very happy indeed to approach Buddhism (and mindfulness) more as a way of living than as a road to Nibbana/Enlightenment.
  • Keep meditating. Changes always arrive; they just might not be the changes you're expecting.
  • What changes are you hoping for from your own practice?
  • it does

    can guarantee for it

continue meditating at least 10 minuits per day
if we do we will increase the time by degrees no doubt about it :)

    because
we enjoy the tranquality more than anything else

    that itself a palpable change

    and then

we can go for more insightful meditation

    have no doubt :)
