Probably won't hurt - as long as you use common sense.
  • it is suggested that you regularly meditate but saying this if meditation is adopted in the long run you have to enjoy the journey and if that means taking an off day coz you feel ill than dont feel guilty.

All the best i hope you get well soon.

If the art of meditation is only practised when we feel well, do you really think that the process of dying would be the best time to cram for the final exam. If meditation is only practised when one feels like it, then our practise will remain completely subject to feelings.
Meditation is the process of seeing beyond the obscurations of our own attachments. Few things enforce the power of those obscurations like our own physical vulnerability.

  • Yes definitely practice meditation when there is suffering: gross or subtle!

Whether you are cultivate the good through concentration or metta.

Or you are doing insight practice.

One can learn a lot from every mind state.

  • It depends. If you can establish a stable and clear mind in the midst of the discomfort, it is a perfect opportunity to meditate. Otherwise, you may need to develop greater concentration at more opportune times first.

If you can, then it is good to meditate while you are ill.
In Tibetan Buddhism, they suggest that you learn to discipline the mind, as an aware observant mind in the state of mindfulness is of great benefit during the transitions of death and rebirth.

On more mundane levels, any relaxation will help your health, and meditation is one form of relaxation. Therefore, it will assist with the healing, but meditation itself has no special healing powers.

help with healing? It is the Healing.
Offer your sickness to the hell and hungry ghost realms, they love that sort of thing . . . :)
