please help

This site looks really interesting, but I am in need of help
as to how one keeps an eye out for threads one has contributed to, when this site does not offer email notification when others have responded to ones threads.
Apologies in advance if this has been posted in the incorect place.

If you look at the board index, there's a small five pointed star to the right of the thread title. You can click on that star and it'll book mark the post. Your bookmarks end up on the left hand side of your screen and also, if someone comments in a bookmarked post you will be notified by the top right 'globe' by your username.

I think that's correct and I hope it helped.

If you click on that globe and then click on "all notifications" it'll tell you who mentioned you in a comment, who sent you a message, and who commented on any thread you started. This works whether you bookmark the post or not, as I have notifications for all 3 of those things and I have never bookmarked a post.

I cannot figure out what the box to the right of the star in the first post of a thread (the star that you highlight yellow to bookmark the thread) is for. If you click on it a black check mark appears, but what does it do or mean?

@Nirvana it's a box for moderators to select posts for bulk action (moving, deleting, etc.). Not sure why it's showing up for you, probably just a minor style bug. I'll let @lincoln know
