You
Yes you
Go sit your ass down!
Really sit!
Cement your ass to the ground!
and, as I heard a great lama say recently, "Sit Completely."
Here are some beautiful lines from the timeless Tao Te Ching:
The ancient Masters were profound and subtle.
Their wisdom was unfathomable.
There is no way to describe it;
all we can describe is their appearance.
They were careful
as someone crossing an iced-over stream.
Alert as a warrior in enemy territory.
Courteous as a guest.
Fluid as melting ice.
Shapable as a block of wood.
Receptive as a valley.
Clear as a glass of water.
Do you have the patience to wait
till your mud settles and the water is clear?
Can you remain unmoving
till the right action arises by itself?
The Master doesn't seek fulfillment.
Not seeking, not expecting,
she is present, and can welcome all things.
Sink well into the earth
and sit.
Plant that booty 'til you're tooty fruity.
"Oftentimes it is like we are trying to solve a puzzle,
we sit down with complexity at hand..
But really, adding such a meditation practice to your life is adding another Samsara.
Life is already complex enough. Job, relationships, studies, work, life is already complicated.
Our practice should help us simplify the elements of our life.
Thus, when we sit, Just sit.
And Sit Completely."

Sit like you mean it. Sit like you mean to stay. Sit like you have nowhere to go.
Oh what a struggle, to do something so simple.
Next they will be asking us to sit as if we are enlightened.
Maybe we just need to be in phase . . .
