I am not even convinced it's accurate.
Could you give the source, and origin of publication, please?

It has none of the style of HHDL.

    Exactly my point......

It sounds more like a slogan on an Athena poster printed over a photo of a lotus with dew on it.

If you google it the exact saying doesn't come up as a quote, anywhere. However, there is a poem that is very, very similar called "Love and Meditation"by a guy named Rushikesh Maslekar. Tons of quotes online are attributed to Buddha, Morgan Freeman, HHDL and others. Not just on FB or Twitter but on quote sites, too.

I don't think love without meditation is empty. It can be. But that doesn't mean it has to be. There are people who love deeply and fully who don't even know what meditation is much less do they practice it.

The Love and Meditation "poem" the quote seems to be ripped from is unfortunate.
The writer of the piece, Rushikesh Maslekar, talks about:
"...the ugly phenomenon of the monk and the nun. They are ugly because they don’t live at all. They are ugly because their lives are loveless. They are ugly because love is the only phenomenon that gives you beauty and
    grace."
Clearly Rushi hasn't met many monks or nuns, because if he had he wouldn't have written such nonsense.
