Interesting question. According to the philosopher Kant, because we as humans are limited to what we can experience through the senses we have we can never be sure that there are no things beyond those senses which we have no experience of. To assume what we sense is all that exists is not only arrogant but foolish. A fish has no awareness of the smell of bacon but the bacon still exists nonetheless.
Science can prove no more or less that what we can experience.
