Pain With Floor Sitting in Class

Sorry, didn't know where to categorize this :)

I've been attending a center for more than 2 years, a 1 1/2 hour class on Saturday a 2 hour class on Sunday. My preference is to sit on the floor...we have 3" in height cushions, about 30" square and I use another small pillow under my tush. Recently I am having a lot of pain at the 1 1/2 hour mark...pain is on both sides where the thighs join the body and (goin area??) and front of the lower leg below the knee.

Should I be sitting a bit higher? I do not have a zafu but do you think that the crescent shape of the zafu would be beneficial?
