Another option would be to try out a local Theravada group - are there any?

on google, search for Ajahn Chah and Ajahn Brahm, there you will find many videos on you tube on dhamma talks given by Ajahn Brahm, Sumedho, Amaro, Thanisaro Bhikku etc. these are Thai Forest tradition monks of Therevada Buddhism.

As far as books go, Richard Gombrich's Theravada Buddhism: A Social History from Ancient Benares to Modern Colombo is a pretty good place to start. In terms of online resources, Access to Insight has a large assortment of free books, essays, and suttas to browse through. In addition, I highly recommend Thanissaro Bhikkhu's audio talks, some of which can be found here and here. I also have a rambling blog that explores Buddhism from a predominately Theravadin point of view if you're interested.
