Thinking about that quote, I googled it and found it in several webpages.
All our plans and expectations are not 100% safe, we must be ready for plans A, B or C!
We must focus on doing as well as possible all our duties, being helpful to others and compassionate, but never forgetting the transcience of life, impermanence and that some kind of Nirvana-Heaven could be walked into any time.
Awareness that ' this now' can suddenly be transformed into timeless eternity, or that timeless eternity and 'this now' -full of doubts, hopes and more- are the same, helps us dealing with it all.
That way we have more certainty and small unexpeceted surprises are part of our way.
