Will save that for my next tube journey. The BBC is trying to make freely available at least in the UK all its archives. Many thanks. <3

I was stunned to discover that they have recordings of Desert island discs going back TO THE 1950'S!! :o

Am hopeless with names but it includes the interview with an actress with a strong french accent who wanted to take "'apeeness" with her. Unfortunately Plombley misunderstood and could only say that was interesting and ask why ... ;)

I was completely ignorant that Samantha was imaginary! - I always thought of her as sitting there beside the chairman, smiling at the audience, knowing the audience were smart enough to realise that the constant innuendo made him (currently JD) look like a misogynistic cock - Well it just shows, I really had no clue did I?

Last night's show was a bit disappointing after that revelation!

Sorry for the disappointment. Should I tell you that the "lazer display board" is a bit of cardboard? Or would that only add to it?

Highly recommend going to a recording if you can!

That's the thing about radio @SarahT‌ - the imagination plays an enormous part in how you perceive the illusion, the less the sensory input, the more scope it has to be free - don't shatter the illusion any more than is necessary, I bet JD was wearing jeans and was unshaven, and the other guys, all looked liked mummified goodies! - let TV and video gamers remain in a world of people that forget they have an imagination and live in someone elses creation, and let me be blindly led by my audiological attractions.

Oh well, at least I shall not mourn for poor Samantha when she passes away. I hope they put a blue plaque up in Mornington Crescent to mark her resting place!

It really is a funny and pointless programme but enables me to have half an hour of fun whilst I am dad the taxi!

Did I enjoy Mornington Crescent more when I first started listening to ISIHAC and thought it had rules? Personally, no - just found it frustrating. And I enjoy understanding why the audience laughs so much at references to the lazer display board rather than feeling excluded from the joke.

Won't take you up on your bet. Expect you are right! What impresses me so much is the imagination of those who keep coming up with lyrics to put to different tunes which are close enough but ridiculously out. And the endless invention of comments about Samantha. Can't think how they've kept it up for so long! Thought it would never be as good without Willie Rushton and then Humphrey Lyttleton (do still miss him particularly) yet they keep going - even if we don't have trumpet voluntaries at Christmas any more. Hoorah!

Thanks for finding the link about Samantha. I heard it on the radio but couldn't find a link. So had to rely on "insider knowledge". Hence title ;)

Hope you at least appreciated Barry Cryer's "have the visitors been yet?" when JD teased him about approaching 80.
