Kusala (Good) is: to abstain from killing, to abstain from stealing, to abstain from unlawful sexual intercourse, to abstain from lying, to abstain from slandering, to abstain from harsh language, to abstain from vain talk, to be free from covetousness, to be free from cruelty and right understanding.
The first three have to do with bodily action, the next four with verbal action, and the last three, with mental action.
Plus, the root of Good is freedom from Greed (or attachment), Anger (or Hatred/Aversion) and Delusion (Ignorance).
I probably could list a few unskillful thoughts:
"Don't worry about that noise, it's only the engine, turn the stereo up."
"I'll see something I'll recognise on the map soon, just keep running."
"Yes, this woman will make me happy, I think I'll marry her!"
^^Akusala thoughts shrouded in delusion!
(And no, don’t kill, rob, or rape anyone of course.)
I’m early, but this could be my list of resolutions for the New Year.
In comparison; I think the Buddhist list of Paramita shows a typical blind spot for the need of taking good care of the body.
the way we give the way we get
even though we do not expect anything back at the time of giving we get things when we are in need
so what should be 'the way we give'?
When a fellow being is in need give help in an open handed way. In a relaxed fashion. So our action proceeds from a natural regard/helpfulness.
