Giving a rose tradition during the Vu Lan (Ullambana) festival Buddhist song

@Carlita from your other link you mentioned the Ullambana (Vu Lan) festival last month (July in Lunar calendar) that you were given a rose.

Giving a rose tradition during the Vu Lan festival was started by Master (Thầy) Thích Nhất Hạnh. Thầy also wrote a very beautiful poem that was later composed to the song called:

Yu Lan or Hunger Ghost Day, observed on the 15th of the 7th month (Ghost Month) Lunar Calendar, is believed to be the only day when the ancestors or the family deceased would be able to visit home.
On this day, a red rose badge shows the mother is still alive while the white one represents mother loss.)
