Unexpectedly bored during meditation

TavsTavs Leeds Explorer

I've been meditating for 11 years and for the first time I became bored while meditating. I was taking part in a 30 minute online bodyscan meditation but the boredom kicked in under 10 minutes. I've been taking part in these particular online meditations for about 6 months and have always enjoyed them. What does it mean?

    Hey Tavs. What type of meditation do you practice?

    Hey Marcitko. I do bodyscans and breath meditations, mainly.

    With breath meditation, my understanding is that all manner of thougts will arise and our practice is the same: gently return to the breath. It should be the same with body scans, gently return to scanning the body.
    The mind will conjure up endless tricks to suck us in. 'What does boredom during meditation mean?' is just one such example.

    I remember reading about hot boredom and then cool boredom as legitimate or charted parts of the meditation path. Try not to think "I mistakenly had the meditation that isn't supposed to happen". Maybe get curious about the boredom? or say "Chaat" and then return to the breath

    I'm taking a break from meditating as part of my usual cycles. It will call me again I have experience of my cycles spiral learning

    My system says a body is required.
    But a body was already present.
    Or, perhaps not.
    Hard to tell.

    @Lionduck
    I like your comment.
    The body changes. Nobody has the body (or mind) of a baby or a toddler. That is gone.
    As Lionduck suggests. Mind and body are interdependent.

    The monkey mind that we mention on many occasions flits and flaps. We can occupy it with breath or different boredoms and techniques that @Jeffrey mentions.

    Bodyscans and led meditations are very effective.
