Pain after trying mantra

edited May 2010 in Buddhism Basics
Hi everyone, not sure if I'm going a bit mad or imagining this so wanted to get other people's opinions! I've never tried meditation or mantras before. Was feeling a bit crappy today and came across this video on youtube and decided to give it a go:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQiXLA13Gik

Not sure if I'm going dolally but it gave me a a really intense pain in my chest and one at the base of my skull, which is still there now. I also feel a bit tearfull. Is this normal or am I just going a bit ga ga??

i don't know if you imagine things or not but

"Om, I invoke that supreme purifying power of universal mind, repository of all accomplishing and irresistible compassion taught by the great Bodhisattvas, Rimpoches and Rishis."

Do you know the meaning of all these concepts?
    "purifying power of universal mind"
"repository of all accomplishing and irresistible compassion"

I would recommend getting a solid understanding of these before doing the mantra. (I'm not saying that you don't, just asking)
