the third eye?

How would you encourage someone who seeks the wisdom of what is sometimes called the "third eye?"

My own thought is to use the two good eyes anyone might have in the first place before scrambling to acquire something extra. :)

What's your take?

    Yup.

    Imponderable.

  • If your all bundled up and you fall you try to put out your hands.

  • I don't think its meant to be taken literally, its just a symbol for higher wisdom.

  • Again, the Visuddhimagga explains the development of this.

    LOL!!!

  • There is no "I".(Do you see what I did there?)

Mind you, I find the idea that fluoride causes the calcification of the pineal gland kinda scary. Check out the Bhodi tree and seratonin.
  • The pineal gland located at the center of the brain is comprised of photosensitive cells, and is thought to be responsible for sensing very minor changes in the level of light in our environment. It releases the chemical responsible for synthesising seratonin and it's what tells us that we're tired at night, and tells animals when it is time to get ready for hibernation or migration. It very well could be a vestigial organ of a literal third eye of some very distant mammalian creature.

Of course this is simply some evolutionary development. The third eye in reference to religious implication I beleive is the mind's eye, the seer of one's thoughts.
