Is it true that some people mistake 1st jhana as enlightenment?
I heard that some people who believe they are enlightened are actually not enlightened.

it is true
the genuine 1st jhana is extremely, even totally selfless. but it is still not enlightenment
the fruit of enlightenment, as recorded in the suttas, is dispassion (viraga)
although the 1st jhana is selfless but does not result in dispassion or the destruction of craving
warm regards
No one really knows for sure.

And so we shouldn’t think too much about what we think, I think
I suppose in our religion nobody is screwed in that sense.
