Is it true that some people mistake 1st jhana as enlightenment?

I heard that some people who believe they are enlightened are actually not enlightened.

  • All of them who say that on the internet are not enlightened. Except for Osho and Eckhardt Tolle. Just kidding.

    hi

    it is true

the genuine 1st jhana is extremely, even totally selfless. but it is still not enlightenment

the fruit of enlightenment, as recorded in the suttas, is dispassion (viraga)

although the 1st jhana is selfless but does not result in dispassion or the destruction of craving

    warm regards

    :)
Of all the paths the Eightfold Path is the best; of all the truths the Four Noble Truths are the best; of all things passionlessness (viraga) is the best...

And so we shouldn’t think too much about what we think, I think ;)
