Thank you for sharing this. Was nice. :)
  • Welcome. Monkhood is something that every serious Buddhist will consider.
A very tough decision opposed by family, friends and society.

I guess I should have also mentioned, that I have a 'set in stone' plan of leaving my current dwelling to live at a monastery. :)
  • good for you!
I hope to be following your footstep.
  • Hello there, I found this video very interesting, thankyou for sharing :)
I also watched your videos on meditation, which I found very useful and equally interesting - you mention reaching a seperate mental state, a jhana or something. How much practice does it take to reach this state?
  • A lot. Its important to have consistent pracice eg 1 hour a day.

    Why?
  • Its like any other skill, you become better
    when you practise consistently.

Finally watched the vid (yeah I know, this is like #3 that I've "finally" watched tonight...):

Thought it was interesting to know if you're born into a Hindu family that makes you Hindu, whether you like it or not.

(Buddhist teachings he heard that interested him in Buddhism)
    "Every thing, without exception, changes."
    "Every thing is inter-related."
"Every thing is relative to each other."
"There is no absolute core to substance."

Something about his life being in danger because of a terrorist problem. Do terrorists target Buddhist monks? Yeesh...

"It's the freedom of the monks' lifestyle that I got." Freedom, not restriction. :)

No money, no expectations, just opening to the situation and letting things be.

"The taste of the teachings are full of freedom."
