Would it be possible to organize Q & A sessions

I was thinking the other day how wonderful it would be If I and other members of the site could be able to ask questions to highly respected Buddhist teachers through this forum in some sort of question and answer session that would last a hour or so.
So I'm just wondering if Lincoln, or any other person on the site could organise this with highly respected Buddhist teachers, for example the Dali Lama. I don't know the logistics or feasibility of such a task, but I know it is done on other websites with politicians and so on, so it would be great if it could be done on this site.

  • How would these highly respected teachers be made available for these sessions?
  • I suggest we choose highly respected teachers from our members.
I offer myself as a moderately highly respected teacher.

Well I'm sure that there is a way to contact well known Buddhist teachers, either directly or through a representative. Just a guess here, but I'm sure someone like the Dali Lama would be open to such a thing. If it is too hard to do live, then it does not have to be live, by that I mean, we could get a representative from the site, to contact the person and then ask questions what the members have selected, and then post the replies.
It was just a thought anyways.

The day I have to pick which of you are the "real" teachers is the day I turn off the site. :p

I think we have a pretty good group of members here overall, but in the past, I've noticed that the few who considered themselves "advanced practitioners" have tended to be the most combative. I don't think we need teachers like that. I'm sure we could find a teacher somewhere who would be willing to check in maybe a few times/week to answer questions, but this service should be rewarded with, perhaps, a donation to the teacher's sangha. Also, the question arises: what tradition do we choose? There will undoubtedly be Theravadan questions, Mahayana and Vajrayana questions. So how many teachers would we need? It begins to get complicated.

    I like this idea.
Let the site get a bit bigger and maybe someone will come on their own free will...
