I found this website while searching on the internet looking for information on the basics of buddhism. Each essay covers the basics and most provide a unique point of view to help those new the the religion to understand most of its aspects. Enjoy...

My name is Adiana and I just want to say hi to everyone. I am a seeker of information about Buddhism.
Tycho, thanks for the link to the Buddhism for Beginners website. I bookmarked it and I will check it out.
Adiana
If you ever need information on Buddhism, you've come to the right place! Any discussion goes, as you can tell by the forum index, and I'm glad to say, as a recent newcomer myself, I found that answers are informed, unbiased and generous! I hope you enjoy your stay with us!
Thank you! It is nice to see you, too!

Thank you.

Don't worry - brian will be the first to tell you what a total fudgewit and doofus I am when it comes to PC's, forums, threads, PM's and even basic spelling ! Welcome to the 'Boy am I a Dingbrain!!' Club -

Also am I like the youngest person on this site because I'm 14.
I got interested in Buddhism in R.E class we covered Buddhism and it interested me,
I live with a bunch of idiot stereotypists and Buddhism just appeals to me as a faith and a good way of living
I will have many questions so I hope you will be patient with me. In the mean time I am going to start reading some threads.
If you attend the MBMC, perhaps I know you
^gassho^
I do not feel comfortable just showing up without being a little prepared in advance. It probably sounds silly.
Also the books by Thich Nhat Hanh are they available through a Borders book store?
I trust as I learn more about Buddhism the less stupid my questions will become. I look forward to learning more!!!
Cheers,
Kin Lee
"Except for one passage. Ven. Sariputta had just come out of the attainment of the cessation, and the Buddha asked him, 'Sariputta, your skin is especially bright, your complexion especially clear. What is the dwelling place of your mind?'
"Sariputta answered, 'My mind's dwelling place is emptiness.'
"That's the one thing that made contact with my mind."
In line with this passage I thought I would share some selected teachings on sunnata (emptiness/voidness) with you.

I read the material on Emptiness at http://www.saigon.com/~anson/ebud/ebdha196.htm yesterday and it was excellent! Thanks for the link. Basically, I think it answered most of the queries posted in the Forum. But it may not be for beginners, I think.
cheers,
cheers,
I just stumbled upon this forum and joined as I thought I could be of help. I'm been an avid surfer of Buddhist websites for years and even have a few of my own.
I'd like to introduce them here and hope they're useful.
Buddhist Answers: http://www.parami.org/buddhistanswers/
How to become a Buddhist: http://www.parami.org/duta/buddhist.htm
Dhammaduta which documents the establishment of the Order of Monks in non-Theravada countries in the last 100 years: http://www.parami.org/duta/duta.htm
Finding the Way where Buddhists of various nationalities describe their paths to the Buddha-Dhamma: http://www.parami.org/duta/way/index.htm
The site looks very comforting and nice. Very interesting. Will explore further when free.
Thanks!
cheers,
Some of the material are well presented. I need to investigate, maybe digest, a few points for myself. Except for the small and minor parts that I need to investigate (they maybe right at all and I could be wrong), they are really magnificent.
It is really good reading material for beginners, really simple and clear.
I remember coming to a page where there is a list of testimonials by people in whe west practising Buddhism. I could not locate the page now, or maybe it's from someother website. Muddle head me. If there is one, let me know. Thanks.
cheers,
