Now I know why my two old pastors don't really like me as much anymore.

Hey, we beat Muslims and Atheists. :-/
  • I may be off in left field, but they feel that they have the right to assign popularity ratings to other people's beliefs? To be honest, we all might favor one group over another based on our own familiarity or comfort, but it is something that we can improve upon when we become aware of it.

I'm not on the list, I don't know if that's bad or good. I guess I'll ask god to protect me from his followers. :p

I know, but this is based on "leaders" of the church. Evangelicals are still an minority in the United States, but they have a big punch in government.

Weird, I wonder if it has to do with the misconception that Buddhists "worship" Buddha or see him as a God?

No it's mainly that we mostly reject god idea, they believe suffering is a good way to get closer to god, and we don't accept Jesus Christ. They don't view other roads to enlightenment or heaven.

Also since we mostly reject Jesus Christ as god. We are empty people and are doomed.
  • Are Evangelicals like fundamentalists? I knew some folks who were part of an extreme variety of Baptists and they had no idea that there were so many other religions. I kid you not- Buddhism was some sort of nonsense to them. They, of course, thought that anyone who didn't take the old testament literally was a fool. Very arrogant. Classic examples of people in glass houses throwing stones. I was often appalled by the things that they would say about others and how they would treat them.

There are some fundamentalists and some who are not. They believe the Bible is the TRUE word of god, so if there was an great flood. There HAS to be an flood. If the Bible had a talking ass. There was an talking ass and etc and etc.

Also they object science that goes against their views. This is why only about 24% of evangelicals support evolution.

Guess which Religious Americans support evolution the most?

    Oh my..that made me giggle.

But yes, my children aren't baptised...so they are going to hell. I'm not a devout Christian..I'll be there with them. This from my mother-in-law.

I live in an area that apparently has the most Churches per capita anywhere. Buddhism is not the religion of choice here. ;)

Interesting that Buddhism is quite pointed about not relying on others as a yardstick in life (find out for yourself, etc.) and yet relying on others seems to infuse the ways in which people lead their lives.

Weird, because I'd bet that 65% of buddhists have an unfavorable view of them.

The difference being many of those buddhists will try to work with their view to love the evangelists more deeply, while the evangelists will try to convince more people to disapprove of the buddhists. :)
