    what is "ber-limey" and "gobsmacker"?

    i think i figured out gobsmacker but not what you meant in context.

    if this stuff are tv references, i missed out on those since i grew up speaking french ;)

    gobsmacker is gob smacked.
    gob is a colloquial name for mouth.
    smacked is stunned......

    This chimp is exceptional amongst chimps - he's akin to a human genius - it is proposed that humans also had such abilities but that since, the parts of our brains that deal with these areas have multitasked so the pure skill is diluted to create a different skill set - there is a range of articles on new scientist that deal with how our brains hijack various processes to provide our particular consciousness
