Do you know if they're coming to Melbourne at all? I really would like to see them, I heard its a real experience!
  • If I go to Aussi that would be the furthest possible apart from space I would have lived from my home, and I could monks at the weekend :p Here in Thailand monks gathering, all of them all over Thailand 200,000+ of them in the streets on the 28th. This is because according to this tradition the buddha was born on this date, he also became enlightened on that date and also died on this date. It is quite a spectacle if you happen to be around at the time.

sounds like that would be some sight
  • @enko Is this an annual thing or is it a one off? Thailands second and smaller airport has cheapened their flights to near by places such as aussi to my knowledge.

"The Gyuto monks now make annual visits to Australia, touring through communities all over the country from three to twelve months at a time. The Abbot of Gyuto has given many valuable teachings around the country including major dialogues with philosophers and cognitive scientists at the Univ. of Adelaide and N.S.W."
  • Hmm, well if it is annual I am going to have to miss it. There are rumors of a doomesday thingy in Phuket on april the 28th haha... :dunce: The amount of monks on the 28th gathering here though is something that is sure to be huge. Anyway I hope you have a great time @enko
