Kasina means: Entirety, Totality, Unity, Wholeness, and Oneness...
It is a purely external method of inducing concentration and reach
jhana absorption by unifying & condensing all undivided attention
on a single homogenous, pure, and uniform object or aspect...
There are 10 objects. Consciousness itself is regarded the finest:
1: The Earth kasina, 2: Water kasina, 3: Fire kasina, 4: Wind kasina,
5: The Blue kasina, 6: Yellow kasina, 7: Red kasina, 8: White kasina,
9: The Light or the consciousness kasina, 10: The Space kasina.
The colour kasinas is a blue, yellow, red, or white circular disk ~1"
feet in diameter of cloth, or painted cardboard or plywood, which
is set up ~2 meters from the meditator who by gazing intensively at
it internalizes it and thereby constructs an artificial visualization!
In the earth kasina, the object of gazing may be a ploughed field
seen from afar, or a round piece of earth prepared for the purpose.
In the water kasina one may gaze at a pond seen from an elevation,
or at water contained in a vessel. Similarly with the fire and wind.
One must keep the mind away from all outside impressions & various
thoughts on other objects, as well as all those disturbing and often
detrimental mental visions or pseudo-hallucinations that may arise.
Now, while exclusively fixing the eyes and thoughts on the blue disk
as the sole object, the things around the disk seem to disappear and
the disk itself becomes more and more a purely mental appearance.
Then, whether the eyes are opened or closed, one perceives this now
purely mentalized kasina disk, as wholly pure uniformly bright blue.
This is the so-called acquired image (uggaha-nimitta) which, though
apparently induced by means of the physical eyes, is nevertheless
produced and visualized only by the mind, independent of the eyes!
This fragile mentally produced image one should make so steady it
no longer vanishes, but remains firmly fixed in the mind. Then it will
become continually steadier, brighter, and more intensive. Such all
pervading pure blue is the mental reflex-image (patibhaga-nimitta)
& associated with it is the access concentration (upacara-samadhi).
During this stage all mental hindrances (nivarana) have temporarily,
been suppressed. No sensual lust (kama-chanda) can arise in such
focused state. No ill-will (vyapada) can irritate the mind. So is also
all lethargy and laziness (thina-middha) overcome. No restlessness
or regret (uddhacca-kukkucca) and no wavering in confused doubt
(vicikiccha) can any more divert the mind. If it is still possible for
these five mental hindrances to arise, there can be no lasting calm
of the mind. When they are gone, & the calm appears is if even solid
one may reach the absorption level concentration (appana-samadhi)
and thereby enter into the first jhana. The first jhana is a state of
calm peace, joyful bliss, and directed thought & sustained thinking
(vitakka-vicara), i.e. inner speech or verbal activities of the mind...
By the fading away & stilling of these verbal activities of the mind,
one has attained the second jhana, a state of calm joy & happiness
(piti-sukha), freed from all thinking, and pondering. When the joy
fades away the third jhana is reached, which is characterized by
a serene equanimous happiness (upekkha-sukha). At the ceasing of
happiness, a state of perfect equanimity (upekkha) remains. This is
called the fourth jhana. After emerging from the fourth jhana, the
mind becomes serene, pure, lucid, stainless, devoid of wrong, pliable,
able to act, firm and imperturbable. Such mind is capable of all...

that he has attained to his famous greatness of direct knowledge?
It is, friends, because I have developed and cultivated these four
Foundations of Awareness that I have won great direct knowledge.
What four? Here, friends, I dwell constantly contemplating upon:
The body only as a formed group, neither as I, me, mine nor a self...
The feelings only as passing reactions neither I, me, mine nor self...
The mind only as habitual & transient moods neither as I, nor self...
All phenomena only as constructed mental states not as any real...
while eager, clearly comprehending, acutely aware, by that removing
all desire & frustration rooted in this world! It is, friends, because
I have developed & cultivated these Four Foundations of Awareness
that I have attained to greatness of direct knowledge. Furthermore,
friends, it is because I have developed & completely refined these 4
Foundations of Awareness, that I can recollect a Thousand Aeons...

The Blessed Buddha once said:
There are ten kasina spheres, Bhikkhus. And which are these?
Someone perceives earth as his kasina, above, below, round about,
undivided, as entirety, infinite, without boundaries, ends or limits.
Again, someone perceives water as his kasina ... or fire ... or wind ...
or blue ... or yellow ... or red ... or white ... or space ... or consciousness,
above, below, round about, undivided, as entirety, infinite, without
boundaries, ends, or limits. These are the subtle ten kasina spheres...
Consciousness above, below, all around about, undivided, as entirety,
infinite, without boundaries, ends or limits is considered as the very
highest of these kasina spheres. There are beings dwelling in such
subtle perception, however even these high aloof beings experience
impermanence and change. Understanding this, any wise and Noble
disciple turns away from it. By turning all away from it he thereby
detaches from the highest, how much more so from lower states!!!

I dive in and out of the earth at if it were water; I travel in space

The Blessed Buddha once said:
1: Experiencing forms on one's own body, one visualizes small forms,
as if they were external, (e.g. a tooth, scar) both beautiful or ugly.
When mastering these, one understands: Now I know, now I see...
This is the first stage of mastery. (Beginning with familiar objects)
2: Experiencing forms on one's own body, one visualizes large forms,
as if external, (e.g. a leg, a bone) beautiful or ugly. When mastering
these, one understands: Now I know, now I see...
This is the second stage of mastery. (Mastering form perception!)
3. Not experiencing any internal form, one visualizes small external
forms. (e.g. a glass, a chair) beautiful or ugly. When mastering these,
one understands: Now I know, now I see...
This is the third stage of mastery. (Expanding object complexity!)
4. Not experiencing internal form, one visualizes infinite external
forms. (e.g. a galaxy, a universe) beautiful or ugly. When mastering
these, one understands: Now I know, now I see...
This is the fourth stage of mastery. (Mastering size perception!)
5. Not experiencing internal form, one visualizes external forms.
blue forms, forms of blue radiance, blue appearance, blue lustre.
When mastering these, one understands: Now I know, now I see...
This is the fifth stage of mastery. (Mastering colour perception!)
6. Not experiencing internal form, one visualizes external forms.
yellow forms, of yellow radiance, yellow appearance, yellow lustre.
When mastering these, one understands: Now I know, now I see...
This is the sixth stage of mastery. (First consolidating repeating!)
7. Not experiencing internal form, one visualizes external forms.
red forms, forms of red radiance, red appearance, and red lustre.
When mastering these, one understands: Now I know, now I see...
This is the seventh stage of mastery. (Second consolidating repeat)
8. Not experiencing internal form, one visualizes external forms.
white forms, white radiance, white appearance, white lustre.
When mastering these, one understands: Now I know, now I see...
This is the eighth stage of mastery. (3rd consolidating repeat!)

Which concentration, Bhikkhus, when practised & developed often ,
will lead to gaining the eye of understanding (dibba-cakkhu)?
When the Bhikkhu reflects on experiencing light, fixes his mind on
this perception of daylight, always both at day-time & also at night!
In this way, with wakeful and stainless mind, he develops a state of
luminous consciousness accompanied by a bright radiant inner light.
This concentration, developed and often practised indeed leads to
the attainment of the eye of understanding (dibba-cakkhu)...
Visuddhimagga XIII, 95 says that this luminous state of mind is a
prerequisite condition for reaching the knowledge of the divine eye.
This enlightening training also evaporates all lethargy & Laziness.

Bhikkhus & friends: If seeing a corpse thrown into the grave, which
is one, two, or three days dead, swollen, bloated, bluish-black, full
of filth; one should draw this conclusion regarding one's own body:
This body too has this nature, has this destiny, & cannot escape it!

partly eaten by crows, hawks, vultures, dogs or jackals, & creeping
with all kinds of worms & maggots; one should draw this conclusion
regarding own body: This body too has this nature, will also become
exactly like that, & cannot ever escape it! If one should see a chain

by the sinews... or bones disconnected & scattered in all directions,
here a hand-bone, there a foot-bone; here the pelvis, the spine, the
skull.... or bones, now bleached, pale white & looking like sea-shells...

Bhikkhus, there is one unique thing, which when trained & cultivated,
is of great fruit and great advantage. What is that one unique thing?
Is Awareness by Breathing (Anapanasati)! And how, Bhikkhus, is this
Awareness by Breathing trained, developed, cultivated, & refined so
that it is of really great fruit and gigantic long-term advantage?
Bhikkhus, when a Bhikkhu, who have gone to the forest, or to the
root of a tree, or to an empty hut, there he sits down cross-legged,
having straightened his body and back, & set up awareness around
the nostrils, then just plain aware of that itself he breathes in, and
then just solely aware of only that breathing itself he breathes out...
1: Breathing in long, he knows, notes & understands: I inhale long!
Breathing out long, he knows, notes & understands: I exhale long!
2: Breathing in short, he knows, notes & understands: I inhale short!
Breathing out short, he knows, notes & understands: I exhale short!

section 54: Anapanasamyutta. Thread 1: A Unique Thing!
These 16 steps should be memorized fully. Print out & bring to pillow!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
Bhikkhus & friends: There is one contemplation, which when often
practised and developed leads to the complete turning away from
the world, to detachment, to stilling, to ceasing, to Peace, to final
penetrating knowledge, to Enlightenment, and thus to Nibbana...
Any Noble Disciple who by progress have understood the Dhamma
dwells frequently in this state. Which is that unique contemplation?
The Noble Disciple contemplates on the divine beings: There are the
divine beings on the plane of the Four Great Kings, the divine beings
of the World of the Thirty-three, Yama World, Content Deva Beings,
those enjoying own creation, those with power over others creations,
those of the Brahma world, and those still far above them...
Now, such faith, morality, knowledge, generosity, concentration &
understanding, which these divine beings acted upon & which made
them reappear on a divine plane after leaving this world, such good
qualities as these, are also found in me! When a fine Noble Disciple
reflects thus, his mind is neither obsessed by any greed, nor by any
hate, nor by any confusion. Uplifted and elated is his mind, and this
makes the Noble Disciple gain further deeper understanding of the
Dhamma, and thus makes the Noble Disciple delight in the Dhamma!
Being delighted, there arises rapturous joy in him. Being filled with
rapture and joy, he is inwardly satisfied and he becomes quite calm.
Being calmed makes him enjoy bliss & happiness and the mind of the
happy one becomes collected, condensed and concentrated...
Of this Noble Disciple, friends, it is said that among many misguided
humans, among suffering humankind, he lives freed from suffering!
And as one who has entered the stream to Nibbana, he cultivates
his contemplation. When, friends, a Noble Disciple has reached the
fruit by understanding the Dhamma, he dwells often in this state!
Bhikkhus, the concentration gained by Awareness by Breathing,
when developed and cultivated, is of great fruit & advantage.
And how, Bhikkhus, is concentration by Awareness by Breathing
developed & cultivated so that it is of great fruit & advantage?
Bhikkhus, when a Bhikkhu, who have gone to the forest, or to the
root of a tree, or to an empty hut, there he sits down cross-legged,
having straightened his body and back, & set up awareness around
the nostrils, then just plain aware of that itself he breathes in, and
then just solely aware of only that breathing itself he breathes out...
1: Breathing in long, he knows, notes & understands: I inhale long!
Breathing out long, he knows, notes & understands: I exhale long!
... ... ... (steps 2-15)
16: He trains thus: Contemplating relinquishment, I will breathe in!
He trains thus: Contemplating relinquishment, I will breathe out!
It is, Bhikkhus, when Awareness by Breathing is trained, developed
& refined in exactly this way, that it is of great fruit & advantage!
I too, Bhikkhus, before my enlightenment, while still a Bodhisatta,
generally dwelt in this dwelling. Then neither did my body, nor my
eyes became tired & my mind, by not clinging, was freed from the
mental fermentations...
Therefore, Bhikkhus, if a Bhikkhu wishes: May neither my body
nor my eyes become tired & may my mind, by not clinging, become
freed from the mental fermentations, this same concentration
won by Awareness by Breathing should be closely attended to.
Therefore, Bhikkhus, if a Bhikkhu wishes: May all the memories
and motivations of the household life be left all behind by me,
then this same concentration by Awareness by Breathing should
be frequently trained and enthusiastically attended to.
Therefore, Bhikkhus, if a Bhikkhu should wish:
May I perceive only disgust in what is attractive & tempting... or
May I perceive only beauty in what is repulsive & disgusting... or
May I dwell unaffected in equanimity & quite aloof of both the
attractive & the repulsive, just aware & clearly comprehending...
then this same concentration by Awareness by Breathing should
be cultivated often and devoted much wholehearted attention!

The Ten Contemplations is Daily Buddhist Routine! The Blessed Buddha once said: Contemplation on death, Bhikkhus & friends, when developed & frequently practised, brings high reward and blessing, has the Deathless Dimension itself as goal & sweet fruit. And how so? Bhikkhus & friends, at every dawn and dusk the wise Bhikkhu thinks to himself: Truly, there are many possibilities of dying: a snake may bite me, or a scorpion or centipede may sting me, and thereby I may lose my life. This would be an obstruction! Or I may stumble and fall down; or become seriously sick, or bad men or evil spirits may attack me, and thereby I may die. That would indeed be for me an obstruction blocking Nibbāna! Here, a Bhikkhu therefore considers by intelligent reflection: Are there still found in me unsubdued evil and disadvantageous mental states, that if I should die today or tonight, would lead me to a bad, painful, low, ugly, poor or unsuccessful next life?? Now, if he by such reflection realize that there are indeed still unsubdued evil and disadvantageous mental states found in him, then he should use his utmost determination, energetic effort, endurance, steadfastness, awareness, and clear comprehension in order to subdue these evil & disadvantageous mental states! If, however, the Bhikkhu in his reflections notices that there are not anymore found in him any evil & disadvantageous mental states, then such Bhikkhu can dwell in pure blissful serene joy, training himself in all advantageous things both by day & night! What if one should wish to gain Mental Absorption?
Bhikkhus, the concentration gained by Awareness by Breathing,
when developed and cultivated, is of great fruit & advantage.
And how, Bhikkhus, is concentration by Awareness by Breathing
developed & cultivated so that it is of great fruit & advantage?
Bhikkhus, when one have gone to the forest, or to the root of a

... ... ... (steps 2-15)
One trains thus: Contemplating relinquishment, I will breathe in!
One trains thus: Contemplating relinquishment, I will breathe out!
Therefore, Bhikkhus, if a Friend wishes: May I become secluded
from all sensual desires, protected from any detrimental mental
state, & thereby enter & dwell in the 1st jhana; directed thought
& sustained thinking joined with Joy & pleasure born of solitude,
then this same concentration by Awareness by Breathing should
be cultivated often and devoted much wholehearted attention!
Furthermore if such friend should wish: By the stilling & fading
of all directed & sustained thought, may I enter & dwell in the
2nd jhana; calmed assurance fixed by solid mental unification &
joined with Joy & pleasure now born of a Concentration devoid
of any thought; then this same focus: Awareness by Breathing
should be trained often and devoted much sincere attention!
Even further; if one should wish: With the fading away of joy,
may I dwell in composed equanimity, just open, aware & clearly
comprehending, still feeling pleasure in this body, by entering
upon & remaining in the 3rd jhana, about which the Noble Ones
declare: 'In aware Equanimity one dwells in pleasure!' then this
very same exercise: Awareness by Breathing should be trained
regularly and dedicated much earnest consideration!
Finally; if one should wish: With the leaving all behind of both
pleasure and pain, as with the prior disappearance of both Joy
and sorrow, may I enter & dwell in the 4th jhana; an entirely
silenced state of utter awareness, purified by an Equanimity of
neither-pain-nor-pleasure then this very same habitual praxis:
Awareness by Breathing should be repeated everyday and thus
made a primary priority according to its illimitable importance!

Snp 576 All beings are subject to death, will die end in death, can never ever escape death. As absolutely every earthen pot that has been shaped & born by the potter's hand, whether big or small, firm or frail, each one, All will crack up & fall to pieces in the end! Exactly so are all beings subject to death, come to death, can never escape death... All beings at due time have to pass away, Their life one day will finish and perish, Then they all fare according to their deeds, Thus good or bad fruits they all will earn. The evil-doer fares all screaming to hell, The good man smiling to a happy world. Hence, Noble deeds one should perform As a supplying store for the next life! For good deeds in the next world give living beings their only strong support! Without that there is only the free fall! SN 3:22

Death carries off the folly man while distracted
by gathering various flowers of sensual pleasure,

all over and carries away the sleeping village. Dhammapada 47
In the ultimate sense, beings have only a very short
moment to live: Only as long as one single moment of
consciousness lasts! Just as the cart wheel, in rolling
forward as in standing still, every time rests merely on
one point of its rim: just so does any life of any being
last only as long as a single moment of consciousness lasts!
As soon as this moment is gone, that being is all gone...
One is therefore reborn millions of times each second!
For as it was said by the ancients:
All life and all existence here is blinking & momentary,
All life's engaged involvement, its joy and all its pain,
Depends all only on one single discrete state of mind,
And quick that moment passes by, never to return...Source:Visuddhimagga VIII,1

Therefore, Bhikkhus, if such friend feels a pleasant feeling, then
he understands through his prior training in breathing meditation:
It is impermanent; it should neither be clung to nor delighted in...
If he feels a painful feeling then he indeed also understands:
It is impermanent; it should neither be clung to nor engaged in...
If he feels a neutral feeling there & then he also understands:
It is impermanent; it should neither be clung to nor involved in...
If he feels a pleasant feeling, he feels it as detached & remote...

following the exhaustion of life, all that is felt, all that us sensed,
not being delighted in, will turn cool right then & there...
Just as, bhikkhus, an oil lamp burns in dependence on the oil and
the wick, and with the exhaustion of the oil & the wick it ceases
to burn through lack of fuel, exactly so too, Bhikkhus, when such
a Bhikkhu feels a feeling terminating with the body or with life...

the rooting out of clinging, the breaking out of this long round

Development of Infinite All-Embracing Kindness! The Blessed Buddha once said: Bhikkhus and Friends: There are these four infinite mental states:
The Bhikkhu pervades all beings with all-embracing friendliness ...
The Bhikkhu encompass all beings with universal & endless pity ...
The Bhikkhu permeates all beings with infinite & mutual joy ...
The Bhikkhu suffuses all beings with unlimited equanimity ...

he pervades the entire universe with all-embracing kind friendliness,

Because of hate, overwhelmed and obsessed by hate, one lives by
doing evil deeds, speaking evil words, and thinking evil thoughts...
Thus one neither really understands one's own welfare, nor the
welfare of others, nor the welfare of both... If, however, this hate
is overcome and subdued, then one lives while doing good deeds,
speaking kind words, and thinking advantageous thoughts...
Therefore one really knows what is one's own welfare, for the
welfare of others, and to the welfare of both self and others... Source: AN 3:55
How to be a Real True Buddhist through Observance?
Poya is the full-moon of Poson (June), which is specially noteworthy to the Sri Lankan Buddhists as the day on which Emperor Asoka's son, the Arahat Mahinda, officially
introduced Buddhism to the island in the 3rd century B.C. Accordingly, in addition to
the normal ritualistic observances undertaken on a Poya day, on Poson day devotees
flock to Anuradhapura, the ancient holy capital city of the country, for it was there
that Arahat Mahinda converted the then ruler, King Devanampiya Tissa, and his court
to Buddhism, thereby setting in motion a series of events that finally made Sri Lanka
the home of Theravada Buddhism. On such Uposatha Observance days:
On such Uposatha Observance days:
Any Lay Buddhist simply joins the Three Refuges and undertakes
the Five Precepts like this: Newly bathed, shaved, white-clothed,
with clean bare feet, one kneels at a shrine with a Buddha-statue,
and bows first three times, so that feet, hands, elbows, knees and
head touch the floor. Then, with joined palms in front of the heart,
one recite these memorized lines in a loud, calm & steady voice:
As long as this life lasts:
I hereby take refuge in the Buddha.
I hereby take refuge in the Dhamma.
I hereby take refuge in the Sangha.
I hereby seek shelter in the Buddha for the 2nd time.
I hereby seek shelter in the Dhamma for the 2nd time.
I hereby seek shelter in the Sangha for the 2nd time.
I hereby request protection from the Buddha for the 3rd time.
I hereby request protection from the Dhamma for the 3rd time.
I hereby request protection from the Sangha for the 3rd time.
I will hereby respect these Three Jewels the rest of my life!
I accepts to respect & undertake these 5 training rules:
I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Killing.
I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Stealing.
I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Sexual Abuse.
I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Dishonesty.
I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Alcohol & Drugs.
As long as this life lasts, I am thus protected by these 5 precepts...
Then, one keeps and protects these sacred vows better than one's own
eyes & children!, since they protect you & all other beings much better
than any army! They are the highest offer one can give in & to this world!
This is the very start on the path towards Nibbāna -the Deathless Element-
This is the Noble Way to Peace, to Freedom, to Bliss, initiated by Morality,
developed further by Dhamma-Study and fulfilled by training of Meditation...
Today indeed is Pooya or Uposatha or observance day, where any lay Buddhist
normally keeps the Eight Precepts from sunrise until the next dawn...
If any wish an official recognition by the Bhikkhu-Sangha, they may simply
forward the lines starting with "I..." signed with name, date, town & country
to me or join here. A public list of this new Saddhamma-Sangha is here!
Entering and Dwelling in All-Embracing Goodwill! The Blessed Buddha once said: How does the monk whose mind is filled with all-embracing kindness

be free from anger, anxiety and frustration and may they be all happy!

Friends: How does Breathing Fulfil the 4 Foundations of Awareness? Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this: How, Ānanda, is this fine
concentration by Awareness by Breathing (Ānāpānasati) developed and
cultivated so that it fulfils the Four Foundations of Awareness (Sati)?
Whenever, Ānanda, a Bhikkhu:
1: Breathing long, knows, notes & understands: I breathe in & out long!
2: Breathing short, knows, notes & understands: I breathe in & out short!
3: Trains thus: Experiencing this entire body, I will breathe in & out!
4: Trains thus: Calming all bodily activity, I will breathe in & out!
On that occasion the Bhikkhu dwells contemplating the body as group,
keen, clearly comprehending, & aware, thereby removing all desire and
frustration rooted in this world. This is a certain kind of body, Ananda,
a kind of clustering, just this breathing in and breathing out in itself...
Whenever, Ānanda, a Bhikkhu:
5: Trains thus: Experiencing enraptured joy, I will breathe in & out!
6: Trains thus: Experiencing a happy pleasure, I will breathe in & out!
7: Trains thus: Experiencing all mental activity, I will breathe in & out!
8: Trains thus: Calming all mental activity, I will breathe in & out!
On that occasion the Bhikkhu dwells contemplating feeling as reaction,
keen, clearly comprehending, & aware, thereby removing all desire and
frustration rooted in this world. For what reason? Close attention to
breathing in & breathing out is also a certain kind of feeling, Ananda...
Whenever, Ānanda, a Bhikkhu:
9: Trains thus: Experiencing the present mood, I will breathe in & out!
10: Trains thus: Elating & satisfying the mind, I will breathe in & out!
11: Trains thus: Concentrating & focusing mind, I will breathe in & out!
12: Trains thus: Releasing, & liberating the mind, I will breathe in & out!
On that occasion the Bhikkhu dwells contemplating mind only as moods,
keen, clearly comprehending, & aware, thereby removing all desire and
frustration rooted in this world. I tell you, Ananda, there is no gaining
concentration by awareness by breathing for one who is confused and
who lacks clear comprehension of the present mentality & mood!
Whenever, Ānanda, a Bhikkhu:

Effective is the Simile of the Saw: 11 Advantages! The Blessed Buddha once said:
If, Bhikkhus and friends, evil robbers should cut of your limbs with a
double-handled saw, whoever gives way to anger would not be acting
on my advice. For thus should you train yourselves: Unperturbed shall
our mind remain, no evil words shall escape our lips, friendly and full
of sympathy shall we remain, with heart full of goodwill, without any
hidden ill will, we will pervade every person with all friendly thoughts,
intense, vast, deep, infinite, freed from all hate, anger and irritation! MN21
If, Bhikkhus, this sublime mental release by all-embracing friendliness

one may expect these eleven blessings:
1: One sleeps peacefully! 2: One Awakes peacefully 3: No evil dreams!

Whoever in revenge repays Hate with Hate,
Is even worse, than he who Hated first!
Whoever to the Hater returns no Hate,
Is winning a difficult mental Battle!
Since he is saving both himself and
the other being too from much pain.
The Hero, when seeing others in anger,
Remains calm & clearly comprehending... SN 7:2
Danger of Anger:
The Hater does not understand what is good,
Nor does he wish to see any of the real truth,
For cruel gloom and darkness reign supreme,
When fiery Hatred overpowers a man.
Even when the Hater puts the brake,
And with difficulty stop his outburst,
He still suffers from frantic burning within.
Agitated he looks, inflamed & smoking hot!
Later again all-consuming Hate may burst
And set ablaze all beings in fear & alarm. The Hater knows no shame, no moral fear, The Hater speaks hurting and impolite,
And overpowered by his Hate,
He nowhere any shelter or calm ever finds.
Oneself is everyone's best friend,
Everyone loves himself most,
Yet in rage one kills oneself by Hate,
Made blind by puffed pride & self-conceit!
Who others deprive of life and joy,
Will to his own good life put an end, Ruining his own future health and life,
With Hatred poisoned and overpowered,
Is all unaware of what atrocity he commits.
Thus, of this crime of Hate there may result
A deadly future real, yet now quite hidden!
Therefore: Break all this Danger of Anger,
hidden within mind, to pieces by self-control,
With insight, with understanding, with effort!
Any intelligent clearly seeing sound man will
naturally try to subdue his own evil tendency,
So should you practise all advantageous good,
So that no resentment, or bitter anger may arise.
Redeemed from Hate, recovered from Anger,
Released from Despair, Rid of Greed, from Envy Freed,
The Tamed Ones having eliminated and discarded Hate,
Reach Nibbana saliently smiling and silenced,
All freed from this vicious wrong.,, AN 7:60

The Blessed Buddha once said: If in your domain the foe has hurt you,
Why should you torture your own mind,
This lies not in the foe's territory?
Your kind family you left all behind,
Why don't you leave your enemy also
and the hate that brings so much torment?
We truly entertain & play with this gnawing
Anger, which brings any good one wish to purify
to only ruin & complete fiasco and failure!!!
Can there exist a greater fool than one in Anger?
When someone has done you wrong,
You fly into a rage and fury!
But why then, will you yourself copy and
thus commit the same evil & wicked actions?
If somebody while wishing to worry you,
Has done you some wrong and vile thing,
Why do you worry then yourself,
And thereby satisfy his wish?
If you are in rage, resentment & revenge,
whether you return some evil to him or not,
You will evermore torture yourself with the
inherent pain that always is born of any hate!
If, out of rage and anger, your enemy
Should do you some real wrong & harm,
Why do you imitate his evil behaviour
By growing blind hate in your own mind?
That wrath and hate through which the foe
Has done you some unpleasant thing,
That inner hate, indeed, you should destroy!
Then how can you worry without a cause?
As moment after moment all will vanish,
so will vanish too those five groups and
clusters of clinging that have done you harm!
Who is it then you're angry with?
Nothing is left out there! It is all gone now!
If one man hates another man,
Whom does he hurt most, if not himself!
You are thus the cause of your own pain,
Why then do you hate the other man after all? Source: Vism IX,22

A Thousand Aeons!
Absorption into the Kasina is also Impermanence!

Suprahuman Force!

The 8 Stages of Mental Mastery!
Once when the Venerable Anuruddha was dwelling at Savatthi in
Jeta's Grove, in Anathapindika's Park, a number of Bhikkhus went
to the Venerable Anuruddha & exchanged polite greetings with him.
Then they sat down & asked the Ven. Anuruddha: Venerable Sir:
What has the Venerable Anuruddha developed & cultivated so that
he has attained to his famous greatness of direct knowledge?
It is, friends, because I have developed and cultivated these four
Foundations of Awareness that I have won great direct knowledge.
What four? Here, friends, I dwell constantly contemplating upon:
The Body only as a formed group, neither as I, me, mine, nor a self...
The Feelings only as passing responses, neither as I, mine, nor self...
The Mind only as temporary mentalities, neither as I, nor any self...
All Phenomena only as constructed mental states not as any real...
while eager, clearly comprehending, & fully aware, thereby removing
all desire & frustration rooted in this world! It is, friends, because
I have developed & cultivated these Four Foundations of Awareness
that I have become empowered with suprahuman forces: With the
divine ear element, which is purified, refined, subtle and surpasses
the human, I hear both divine and human sounds, both those that are
far away as well as those that are near.

This enlightening training also evaporates all lethargy & Laziness.

as a mind beyond ignorance; a contracted & lazy mind as a lazy and

The Mind Reading Ability (Ceto-pariya-ñana)
The Blessed Buddha once said:
Bhikkhus & friends: If seeing a corpse thrown into the grave, which
is one, two, or three days dead, swollen, bloated, bluish-black, full
of filth; one should draw this conclusion regarding one's own body:
This body too has this nature, has this destiny, & cannot escape it!
If one should see a corpse thrown to the burial ground, gnawed and
partly eaten by crows, hawks, vultures, dogs or jackals, & creeping
with all kinds of worms & maggots; one should draw this conclusion
regarding own body: This body too has this nature, will also become
exactly like that, & cannot ever escape it! If one should see a chain
of bones, flesh hanging from it, splattered with blood, held together
by the sinews... or bones disconnected & scattered in all directions,
here a hand-bone, there a foot-bone; here the pelvis, the spine, the
skull.... or bones, now bleached, pale white & looking like sea-shells...
or black rotting bones finally crumbling into dust; One should think:
This body too has this nature, has this destiny, & cannot escape it!

misbehaved bodily, verbally & mentally, who reviled the Noble Ones,
held wrong view, and did actions based on their wrong view, with the
break-up of their body, right after death, they have been reborn in
a state of misery, in a painful destination, in the lower worlds, even
in hell! But these other beings who engaged in good behaviour bodily,
verbally and mentally, who did not revile the Noble Ones, who held
right view, and undertook actions based on this right view, with the
break-up of their body, after death, they are reborn in a superior
and happy destination, even a divine world! Thus with the divine eye,
which is purified and surpasses the human, I see beings passing away
and being reborn, inferior and superior, beautiful & ugly, fortunate
and unfortunate, and I understand how beings are reborn and fare
on in this round all in accordance with their past kamma (behaviour).

The Body as a formed group, neither as me, lasting nor pleasure!
The Feelings as passing sensations, neither as mine, nor pleasure!
The Mind as temporary mentalities, neither as I, nor as core soul!
All Phenomena as mental states neither as substance nor any real!
while eager, clearly comprehending, & fully aware, thereby removing
all desire & frustration rooted in this world! It is, friends, because
I have developed & cultivated these Four Foundations of Awareness
that I have become empowered with all these suprahuman forces:
I remember many of my prior lives, one rebirth, two lives, three lives,
four lives, five lives, ten past lives, twenty lives, thirty lives, 40 lives,
50 lives, a 100 past lives, one thousand prior lives, several hundred
thousand lives, many aeons (universal cycles) of world-contraction
and expansion (big bangs): There such was my name, species, family,
such my appearance, such was my food, such my experience of any
pleasure and pain, such was the story of my life; passing away from
there, I was reborn elsewhere. There such was my name, variety,
family, such my appearance, such was my food, such my experience
of pleasure & pain, such was my life length; passing away from there,
I was reborn here. Thus I recollect manifold various past lives and
abodes in all their particular modes & all their spectacular details...

Seeing own past Lives and all their Mistakes!
It is reflecting over the qualities of own charity exactly like this:
A Noble Disciple reviews & recollects his own generosity Caga thus:
Truly, blessed am I, highly lucky: Among beings all polluted by evil,
stingy and mean niggardliness, I am living with a mind freed from
avarice, open-handed, liberal, in high-minded largesse, all inviting to
all beggars, rejoicing in giving and sharing all I have with others!

Bhikkhus, there is one unique thing, which when trained & cultivated,

Is Awareness by Breathing (Anapanasati)! And how, Bhikkhus, is this

Unique is Awareness by Breathing!

Free Choice of Emotional Response!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
Contemplation on death, Bhikkhus & friends, when developed &
frequently practised, brings high reward and blessing, has the
Deathless Dimension itself as goal & sweet fruit. And how so?
Bhikkhus & friends, at every dawn and dusk the wise Bhikkhu
thinks to himself: Truly, there are many possibilities of dying:
a snake may bite me, or a scorpion or centipede may sting me,
and thereby I may lose my life. This would be an obstruction!
Or I may stumble and fall down; or become seriously sick, or
bad men or evil spirits may attack me, and thereby I may die.
That would indeed be for me an obstruction blocking Nibbāna!
Here, a Bhikkhu therefore considers by intelligent reflection:
Are there still found in me unsubdued evil and disadvantageous
mental states, that if I should die today or tonight, would lead
me to a bad, painful, low, ugly, poor or unsuccessful next life??
Now, if he by such reflection realize that there are indeed still
unsubdued evil and disadvantageous mental states found in him,
then he should use his utmost determination, energetic effort,
endurance, steadfastness, awareness, and clear comprehension
in order to subdue these evil & disadvantageous mental states!
If, however, the Bhikkhu in his reflections notices that there
are not anymore found in him any evil & disadvantageous mental
states, then such Bhikkhu can dwell in pure blissful serene joy,
training himself in all advantageous things both by day & night!

Bhikkhus, the concentration gained by Awareness by Breathing,

And how, Bhikkhus, is concentration by Awareness by Breathing

Reaching Absorption by Breathing!
The days and nights are flying past,
Life shrinks & dwindles hurriedly away,
The life of mortals ebbs, and runs away,
Vanishes, like water in a tiny stream.
SN 4:10
As every morning one may worry & fear
The sudden falling of the ripened fruits,
So all mortals in this and any other world,
Have to live in constant fear of abrupt dying.
Snp 576
All beings are subject to death, will die
end in death, can never ever escape death.
As absolutely every earthen pot that has
been shaped & born by the potter's hand,
whether big or small, firm or frail, each one,
All will crack up & fall to pieces in the end!
Exactly so are all beings subject to death,
come to death, can never escape death...
All beings at due time have to pass away,
Their life one day will finish and perish,
Then they all fare according to their deeds,
Thus good or bad fruits they all will earn.
The evil-doer fares all screaming to hell,
The good man smiling to a happy world.
Hence, Noble deeds one should perform
As a supplying store for the next life!
For good deeds in the next world give
living beings their only strong support!
Without that there is only the free fall!

THE PRECIOUS ALTAR OF THE TEMPLE
Soon this fragile body will fall to the ground,
lifeless, cast aside, without any consciousness,
stiff, cold & useless like a rotten log of wood ...
Dhammapada 41
MOMENTARY
Whosoever knows this body
to be as temporary as a bubble,
as insubstantial as a mirror image,
May break Mara's honey tipped arrows and
Can thus not be seen by this evil King of Death ...
Dhammapada 46
SURPRISE
Death carries off the folly man while distracted
by gathering various flowers of sensual pleasure,
even & exactly so as the huge tsunami wave runs
all over and carries away the sleeping village.
All life and all existence here is blinking & momentary,
All life's engaged involvement, its joy and all its pain,
Depends all only on one single discrete state of mind,
And quick that moment passes by, never to return...Source: Visuddhimagga VIII,1

Life only lasts a single Moment!
This is beautiful.....
Bhikkhus, the concentration gained by Awareness by Breathing,
when developed & cultivated, is of great fruit & big advantage...
And how, Bhikkhus, is concentration by Awareness by Breathing
developed & cultivated so that it is of great fruit & advantage?
Bhikkhus, when one have gone to the forest, or to the root of a
tree, or to an empty hut, there one sits down cross-legged, having
straightened one's body and back, and set up awareness around
the nostrils, then just plain aware of that itself one breathes in,
& just solely aware of only that breathing itself one breathes out...
Breathing in long, one knows, notes and understands: I inhale long!
Breathing out long, one knows, notes & understands: I exhale long!
... ... ... (steps 2-15) ... ... ...
One trains thus: Contemplating relinquishment, I will breathe in!
One trains thus: Contemplating relinquishment, I will breathe out!
If he feels a painful feeling, he feels it as detached & remote...
If he feels a neutral feeling, he feels it as detached & remote...
If he feels a feeling terminating with the body, he understands:
If feel a feeling terminating at the same time as this body...
If he feels a feeling terminating with life, then he understands:
I feel a feeling terminating at the same time as this life...
He then understands: With the break-up of this frame of a body,
following the exhaustion of life, all that is felt, all that us sensed,
not being delighted in, will turn cool right then & there...
Then he understands: With the break-up of this frame of a body,
following the exhaustion of life, all that is felt, all that is sensed,
not being delighted in, will cool down & cease right then & there!

Reaching Ceasing by Breathing!
The Ten Contemplations is Daily Buddhist Routine!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
Any Bhikkhu contemplates this body from the soles of the feet
upward, and from the top of the hair downward, as a disgusting
frame with a skin stretched over it, filled with many impurities:
This body consists of head-hairs, body-hairs, nails, teeth, skin,
flesh, sinews, bones, marrow, kidneys, bile, lymph, pus, blood,
sweat, fat, tears, tallow, spittle, snot, joint fluid, and urine.
Just as if a sack with openings at both ends were full of many
various kinds of grain: Wheat, rice, mung beans, kidney beans,
sesame seeds, husked rice and a man with good eyesight, pouring
it out, were to reflect: This is wheat. This is rice. These are mung
beans. These are kidney beans. These are sesame seeds. This is
husked rice, in exactly the same way, monks, a monk reflects on
this very body upward from the soles of the feet, & downward
from the hairtips of the head...

Contemplating the Body!
The Ten Contemplations is Daily Buddhist Routine!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
Bhikkhus & friends: There is one contemplation, which when often
practised and developed leads to the complete turning away from
the world, to detachment, to stilling, to ceasing, to Peace, to final
penetrating knowledge, to Enlightenment, and thus to Nibbāna...
Any Noble Disciple who by progress have understood the Dhamma
dwells frequently in this state. Which is that one contemplation?
It is reflecting over the qualities of ultimate Peace like this:
This is peaceful, this is sublime, namely, the stilling of all kammic
construction, the leaving all behind of all substrata of any being,
the complete vanishing of all sorts of craving, ceasing, Nibbāna...
Whatever, Bhikkhus & friends, there are of both conditioned &
unconditioned things, dependent & independent constructions,
detachment is considered the highest of them, that is, the final
destruction of ego-belief, the overcoming of all desire & thirst,
the rooting out of clinging, the breaking out of this long round
of rebirths, the vanishing of craving, absolute release, Nibbāna...
Nibbāna is the highest happiness!

Winning the High Bliss & Peace by Breathing!
Bhikkhus, this concentration by Awareness by Breathing, when it
is developed and cultivated, is peaceful and sublime, an ambrosial
pleasant dwelling in itself, & it disperses & quells right on the spot
all evil detrimental mental states, whenever & wherever they arise.
Exactly as in a hot summer month, when a cloud of dust & dirt has
been swirled up, then a sudden great & heavy rain makes it vanish
by quelling it on the spot, so too does this unique concentration by
Awareness by Breathing, when developed and cultivated, & which
is peaceful and sublime, an ambrosial pleasant dwelling in itself,
disperse, scatter, evaporate and quell right on the spot all evil &
disadvantageous mental states whenever & wherever they arise.
And how is this so? Bhikkhus, when one have gone to the forest,
or to the root of a tree, or to an empty hut, there one sits down
cross-legged, having straightened one's body and back, and set
up awareness around the nostrils, then just plain aware of that
breathing itself one breathes in, & just solely aware of only that
breathing itself one breathes out... Feeling only the touch of air!
It is in this way, Friends & Bhikkhus, that this fine concentration

and it is in this way that it disperses and quells on the spot all evil

A Single Sameness of Stilled Sublime Peace!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
Bhikkhus and Friends: There are these four infinite mental states:
The Bhikkhu pervades all beings with all-embracing friendliness ...
The Bhikkhu encompass all beings with universal & endless pity ...
The Bhikkhu permeates all beings with infinite & mutual joy ...
The Bhikkhu suffuses all beings with unlimited equanimity ...
First one direction, then the second, then the third, and the fourth,
above, below, all around, in every location, uniting himself with all,
he pervades the entire universe with all-embracing kind friendliness,
with all-embracing compassion & pity, with all-embracing mutual &
altruistic joy, with all-embracing imperturbable equanimity, using a
refined mind which is great, vast, profound, infinite, immeasurable,
released from all hate, anger, irritation, opposition & stubbornness...
Source: DN33
Because of hate, overwhelmed and obsessed by hate, one lives by
doing evil deeds, speaking evil words, and thinking evil thoughts...
Thus one neither really understands one's own welfare, nor the
welfare of others, nor the welfare of both... If, however, this hate
is overcome and subdued, then one lives while doing good deeds,
speaking kind words, and thinking advantageous thoughts...
Therefore one really knows what is one's own welfare, for the
welfare of others, and to the welfare of both self and others...

All-Embracing Infinite Kindness!
Buddhists as the day on which Emperor Asoka's son, the Arahat Mahinda, officially
introduced Buddhism to the island in the 3rd century B.C.

All-Embracing Infinite Friendliness!
How does Breathing Fulfil the 4 Foundations of Awareness?
13: Trains thus: Contemplating impermanence, I will breathe in & out!
14: Trains thus: Contemplating detachment, I will breathe in & out!
15: Trains thus: Contemplating ceasing, I will breathe in & out!
16: Trains thus: Contemplating relinquishment, I will breathe in & out!
On that occasion the Bhikkhu dwells contemplating all phenomena as
mental states, keen, clearly comprehending, & aware, thereby removing
all desire and frustration rooted in this world. Having by understanding
seen what really is the elimination of greed and discontent, he is one
who just looks on, over-viewing closely in & by imperturbable equanimity.
It is, Ānanda, when Awareness by Breathing is trained, developed
and refined in exactly this way, that it fulfils these crucial four
Foundations of Awareness...

Unique, subtle and fulfilling is Awareness by Breathing!
MN 21
If, Bhikkhus, this sublime mental release by all-embracing friendliness
has been much trained & developed, made one's vehicle & foundation,
if it is firmly established, brought to greatness and full perfection,
one may expect these eleven blessings:
1: One sleeps peacefully! 2: One Awakes peacefully 3: No evil dreams!
4: One is liked by all humans & 5: non-humans 6: The Devas protect one!
7: Fire, poison, & weapons cannot do any harm 8: Quick concentration!
9: One's features brighten up! 10: No panic at death! 11: One is reborn
in the fine-material Brahma-world or even higher...

The Simile of the Saw!
How are the Seven Factors of Enlightenment Fulfilled?
Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this:
How, Ānanda, are the Four Foundations of Awareness trained and developed
so that they fulfil the Seven Links to Awakening?
Whenever, Ānanda, a Bhikkhu is reflecting upon body only as an accumulation
right on that occasion unconfused and undistracted awareness is established
in that Bhikkhu. Therefore on that occasion the Awareness Link to Awakening
is aroused, and as it gradually develops, it reaches fulfilment in that Bhikkhu.
Dwelling thus aware, he investigates & examines that state by understanding,
Whenever, Ānanda, a Bhikkhu dwells investigates a state, on that occasion the
Investigation Link to Awakening is aroused, & as it gradually develops by many
repetitions it reaches fulfilment in that Bhikkhu. While he investigates states
with understanding, examines them, his energy is aroused without slackening.
On that occasion the Energy Link to Awakening is enlivened, & as it gradually
develops by many repetitions, it comes to reach fulfilment in that Bhikkhu.
When his enthusiastic energy is aroused, there arises in him a rapturous joy!
On that occasion the Joy Link to Awakening is instigated, & as it gradually
develops by many repetitions, it comes to reach fulfilment in that Bhikkhu.
Both the body & the mind becomes tranquil in whoever is mentally elated by joy.
On that occasion the Tranquillity Link to Awakening is therefore induced, and
as it gradually develops by maturation, it reaches fulfilment in that Bhikkhu.
In one whose body is tranquil & who is happy the mind becomes concentrated!
On that occasion the Concentration Link to Awakening is therefore stimulated,
& as it gradually develops by maturation, it reaches fulfilment in that Bhikkhu.
He then just looks on the concentrated mind with imperturbable equanimity...
On that occasion the Equanimity Link to Awakening is therefore incited, and
as it gradually develops by maturation, it reaches fulfilment in that Bhikkhu.

Remains calm & clearly comprehending...
SN 7:2
Danger of Anger:
The Hater does not understand what is good,
Nor does he wish to see any of the real truth,
For cruel gloom and darkness reign supreme,
When fiery Hatred overpowers a man.
Even when the Hater puts the brake,
And with difficulty stop his outburst,
He still suffers from frantic burning within.
Agitated he looks, inflamed & smoking hot!
Later again all-consuming Hate may burst
And set ablaze all beings in fear & alarm.
The Hater knows no shame, no moral fear,
The Hater speaks hurting and impolite,
And overpowered by his Hate,
He nowhere any shelter or calm ever finds.
Oneself is everyone's best friend,
Everyone loves himself most,
Yet in rage one kills oneself by Hate,
Made blind by puffed pride & self-conceit!
Who others deprive of life and joy,
Will to his own good life put an end,
Ruining his own future health and life,
With Hatred poisoned and overpowered,
Is all unaware of what atrocity he commits.
Thus, of this crime of Hate there may result
A deadly future real, yet now quite hidden!
Therefore: Break all this Danger of Anger,
hidden within mind, to pieces by self-control,
With insight, with understanding, with effort!
Any intelligent clearly seeing sound man will
naturally try to subdue his own evil tendency,
So should you practise all advantageous good,
So that no resentment, or bitter anger may arise.
Redeemed from Hate, recovered from Anger,
Released from Despair, Rid of Greed, from Envy Freed,
The Tamed Ones having eliminated and discarded Hate,
Reach Nibbana saliently smiling and silenced,
All freed from this vicious wrong.,,

How is the Final Release Fulfilled by True Wisdom?
Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this:
How, Ānanda, are the Seven Links to Awakening trained and developed
so that they fulfill True Wisdom and Final Release?
When a Bhikkhu, Ānanda, develops the Awareness Link to Awakening,
based upon seclusion, disillusion, & ceasing, then it matures into release!
When he develops the Investigation Link to Awakening, based upon total

When he develops the Energy Link to Awakening, based upon seclusion,

When he develops the Joy Link to Awakening, based on solitary seclusion,

When he develops the Tranquillity Link to Awakening, based upon complete

When he develops the Concentration Link to Awakening, while alone and

When he develops the Equanimity Link to Awakening, based upon seclusion,

Final Fulfilling!!!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
There are, Bhikkhus & friends, five methods of overcoming irritation,
whereby the anger & annoyance that has arisen in a Bhikkhu may be
overcome, stilled and quelled on the spot. Which are these?
Towards any person against whom hate, anger or nuisance might arise,
1: One should develop all-embracing kind friendliness ...
2: One should develop all-embracing compassionate pity ...
3: One should develop imperturbable & indifferent equanimity ...
4: One should not pay him any attention or consideration at all ...
5: One should know the law of the ownership of kamma, that oneself
& this person too is the owner & inheritor of the results of own action!
That oneself & this person too is created by the results of own action!
That oneself & this person too has the result of own action as destiny!
In these 5 ways may the wise Bhikkhu overcome his anger & hatred!

How to Cure Irritation!
How is the The Entrance into the Awakening Stream?
Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this:
Bhikkhus, a Noble Disciple who possesses four things is a Stream-Enterer,
no longer bound to the lower worlds, fixed in destiny, with Enlightenment
as his assured destination. What four?
Here, Bhikkhus, a Noble Disciple possesses confirmed confidence in the
Buddha thus:
Worthy, honourable & perfectly self-Enlightened is the Blessed Buddha!
Consummated in knowledge and behaviour, totally transcended, expert
in all dimensions, knower of all worlds, unsurpassable trainer of those
who can be tamed, both teacher & guide of gods as well as of humans,
blessed, exalted, Awakened & Enlightened is the Buddha!!!
Any Noble Disciple possesses confirmed confidence in the Dhamma thus:
Perfectly formulated is this Buddha-Dhamma, visible right here & now,
immediately effective, timeless, inviting each & everyone to come and
see for themselves, inspect, examine & verify. Leading each & everyone
through progress towards perfection. Directly observable, experiencable
& realizable by each intelligence...
Any Noble Disciple possesses confirmed confidence in the Sangha thus:
Perfectly training is this Noble Sangha community of the Buddha's
disciples; the right way, the true way, the good way, the direct way!
Therefore do these eight kinds of individuals, the four Noble pairs,
deserve both gifts, self-sacrifice, offerings, hospitality & reverential
salutation with joined palms, since this Noble Sangha community of the
Buddha's Noble disciples, is an unsurpassable & forever unsurpassed
field of merit, in this world, for this world, to honour, and support..
Any Noble Disciple possesses Morality esteemed by the Noble Ones:
Unbroken, untorn, unspotted, unmottled, freeing, praised by the clever,
natural, leading to mental concentration, & absorption...
These 4 factors of Stream-Entry does the Noble Disciple possess!!!
Any Noble Disciple, Bhikkhus, who possesses these 4 is a Stream-Enterer,
no longer bound to the nether world, fixed in destiny, with Awakening
as his certain destination. This is what the Blessed One said. Having
said this, the Fortunate One, the Teacher, further said this:
Confidence and vision of the Dhamma,
In time arrive at the supreme Happiness
Grounded upon & born of this Noble life!

Stream Entrance!!!
If in your domain the foe has hurt you,
Why should you torture your own mind,
This lies not in the foe's territory?

Give the Enemy a Gift!An almost infallible way to overcome ill-will
towards the rival is to present him with a gift!
The Enemy has been your family many times:
Another method is to consider the fact that the opponent
in former rebirths have been a near relation of oneself.
As the Buddha said:
Not easy is it, Bhikkhus, to find any being that, at some time
in this long round of rebirths, has not been your mother or
father, or brother or sister, or son or daughter...

further six things, that contribute to true knowledge:
1: One should dwell observing the impermanence of all phenomena.
2: One should dwell experiencing the suffering in all, that is impermanent.
3: One should dwell experiencing the impersonality of all, that is suffering.
4: One should dwell experiencing the gradual withdrawal by relinquishment.
5: One should dwell experiencing the fading away of desire by disillusion,

Not Killing, promoting Harmlessness, & Praising Good-Will!
Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this:
What, householder friends, is the Dhamma explanation befitting to oneself?
Here, householder friends, a Noble Disciple reflects thus: I am one who wishes
to live, who does not wish to die; I desire happiness & do not like any suffering.
If someone were to take my life, it would neither be pleasing nor agreeable to me.
If I kill whatever another being: One who also wishes to live, who also does not
wish to die, who also desires happiness & who also dislike suffering, that would
neither be pleasant nor acceptable to that other being either...
What is displeasing and disagreeable to me, is also displeasing and disagreeable
to any other being too. How can I inflict upon another being what is displeasing
and disagreeable to myself? Having reflected repeatedly thus, then gradually:
1: He/she will carefully avoid all destruction of any life-form whatsoever...
2: He/she will persuade others also to abstain from all destruction of any life...
3: He/she will speak praising harmlessness and avoidance of all & any killing...
In exactly this way is this good bodily behaviour purified in three respects!!!

HARMLESSNESS AVOIDS THE ULTIMATE WRONG!
All sentient beings feel pain from violence.
All sentient beings fear death.
Seeing other beings are like oneself;
Treating other beings like oneself;
One should never ever harm nor kill ...
Dhammapada 129
Whoever harms the harmless & innocent beings,
upon such very fool, pain of evil promptly return
as dust thrown against the wind.
Dhammapada 125
Whoever injures, with weapon or stick, beings
searching for their happiness - when after death -
seeking same happiness, such fool never finds it!
Dhammapada 131
Whoever never injures, with weapon nor stick, beings
searching for their happiness - when after death -
seeking same happiness, such clever & kind one
always gain it!
Dhammapada 132
The Noble is not one who injures living beings.
The Noble is one who never injures living beings.
Dhammapada 270
Ever are the true disciples of the Buddha
well awake & quite aware. Constantly they
meditate both day & night on Harmlessness.
Dhammapada 300
The one who has left violence,
who never harm any being,
whether moving are stationary,
who never kill nor causes to kill,
such one, harmless, is a Holy One.
Dhammapada 405
The one who is friendly among the hostile,
who is harmless among the violent,
who is detached among the greedy,
such one is a Holy One.
