Friends: Neither Stealing nor Cheating, Taking only what is Given! Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this:
What, householder friends, is the Dhamma explanation befitting to oneself?
Here, householder friends, a Noble Disciple reflects thus: If someone were to
take from me what I have not given, that is, to commit theft, to steal, that would
neither be pleasing nor agreeable to me.
If I were to take from whatever kind of another being what he has not freely given,
that is also to commit theft, to steal, that would neither be pleasing nor agreeable
to that other being either.... What is displeasing and disagreeable to me, is also
displeasing and disagreeable to any other being too. How can I inflict upon another
being what is displeasing and disagreeable to myself? Having reflected repeatedly
thus, then gradually:
1: He/she will carefully avoid all taking what is not given...
2: He/she will persuade others also to abstain from all stealing and theft...
3: He/she will speak praising taking only what is freely and righteously given...
In exactly this way is this good bodily behaviour purified in three respects!!!

The one who mates with the partner of another;
The one who is addicted to drinking and drugging;

Friends: Entering the Stream Supreme assures Enlightenment in 7 lives! Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this: When, householders, the Noble Disciple possesses these seven good qualities:
and the Noble Disciple moreover is established in these four desirable states:
Unwavering faith and confirmed confidence in the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha and the Morality esteemed by the Noble ones: Unbroken, untorn, unspotted,
unmottled, freeing, praised by the clever, natural, leading to concentration,
then if he wishes he can announce of himself: I am one finished with Hell,
finished with the animal realm, finished with the domain of ghosts, finished
with the planes of misery, finished with all bad destinations & lower worlds.
I am a Stream-Enterer, no longer bound to the lower worlds, fixed in destiny,
with Enlightenment as my assured future destination...

Then Impossible to be Dominated by Evil States of Mind!
The Blessed Buddha once said: Bhikkhus and Friends: Once the mental release by infinite Friendliness
has been developed, frequently practised, firmly established, expanded,
made a vehicle & foundation, and brought to full perfection, then it will
be impossible for ill-will may take possession of and obsess the mind,
for the mental release by infinite friendliness is the deliverance from ill-will!
Once the mental release by compassionate Pity & tender understanding
has been developed, frequently practised, firmly established, expanded,
made a vehicle & foundation, and brought to full perfection, then it will
be impossible for violence may take possession of and obsess the mind,
for the mental release by compassionate pity is the deliverance from violence!
Once the mental release by mutual Joy rejoicing in other being's successes
has been developed, frequently practised, firmly established, expanded,
made a vehicle & foundation, and brought to full perfection, then it will
be impossible for discontent may take possession of and obsess the mind,
for the mental release by mutual joy is the deliverance from discontent!
Once the mental release by serene, still and imperturbable Equanimity
has been developed, frequently practised, firmly established, expanded, made
a vehicle & foundation, and brought to full perfection, then it will be impossible
for greed & lust may take possession of & obsess the mind, for the mental
release by imperturbable Equanimity is the deliverance from all greed!
There is many folly ways but only One really good Way!
The Blessed Buddha once said: Some priests postulate this as the way going upwards: "Get up early and walk facing east.
Do not avoid a pit, or a cliff abyss, or a stump, or a thorny place, or a village or cesspool.
You should expect death wherever you fall. Thus, good man, with the breakup of the body,
after death, you will be reborn in a good destination, in a heavenly world." This is the praxis
of the brahmins, Bhikkhus, is a foolish & stupid way, since it does neither lead to revulsion,
to disillusion, to cessation, to peace, to direct knowledge, to Enlightenment, nor to Nibbāna .
However, Bhikkhus, I will explain the very way Going Upwards in the Noble One's Discipline,
that way which leads to utter revulsion, to disillusion, to ceasing, to peace, to safe knowledge,
to Enlightenment, to Nibbāna : Here, Bhikkhus, any Noble Disciple possesses a confirmed
confidence in the Buddha thus: Worthy, & perfectly self-Enlightened is the Buddha!
... in the Dhamma thus: Perfectly formulated is the Buddha-Dhamma, visible right here & now,
... in the Sangha thus: Perfectly training is this Noble Sangha of the Buddha's disciples, and
He possesses the morality liked by the Noble Ones, unbroken ... which leads to concentration.
This, Bhikkhus & friends, is that way going upwards, which leads to utter revulsion, to disillusion,
to ceasing, to Peace, to direct knowledge and experience, to Enlightenment, to Nibbāna!
The 4 Brahmaviharas delivers mind into a Higher State! The Blessed Buddha once said:
The Noble Disciple, Bhikkhus & friends, freed from greed and grudge,
unconfused, alert, attentive and clearly comprehending, with mind full
of kind friendliness ... of compassionate pity ... of altruistic joy ... and of
imperturbable equanimity, pervades first one direction, then the second,
then a third one, then the fourth one, just so above, below, & all around.
Thus sympathetic with all, embracing all, he pervades the whole world,
the entire universe with a vast mind, refined, infinite, freed from all hate
and any ill-will. And he understands: Formerly my mind was limited and
undeveloped. Now, however, is my mind unlimited and developed, and
no limited deed based on a narrow intention will here remain & persist!
What do you think, Bhikkhus & friends: If a boy from his early childhood
develops kind friendliness, compassionate pity, altruistic joy, and quite
imperturbable equanimity, will he then still be able to do bad deeds?
No, Venerable One...
But, if he no longer does bad deeds, will suffering then still attack him?
Certainly not. Venerable One.
How should anyone, doing no evil deeds, still be attacked by suffering!
Therefore should kind friendliness .. compassionate pity .. altruistic joy
and imperturbable equanimity be developed, by all men and women.
No man or woman, on leaving this life, can keep this body. Any mortal
has only his mind as base, mediator, creator, controller and protector.
The Bhikkhu, however, knows: Whatever formerly I have done of bad
deeds with this material body, all that I still have to atone for here, and
after that, then nothing of it will follow me. So developed, the release of
the mind by kind friendliness .. compassionate pity .. altruistic joy, and
imperturbable equanimity leads to Never-Return, unless the wise monk
already during this life penetrates to a higher deliverance than that.
How to be a Real True Buddhist through Observance?
This Esala Poya day is the full-moon of July, which is noteworthy since on this celebrated day:
1: The Blessed Buddha preached his First Sermon: The Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta.
2: The Bodhisatta was conceived in Queen Maya who dreamt a white elephant entered her side.
3: The Blessed Buddha made the Great Withdrawal from the world at the age of 29 years.
4: The Blessed Buddha performed the Twin Miracle (yamaka-patihariya) of dual appearance.
5: The Blessed Buddha explained the Abhi-Dhamma in the Tavatimsa heaven to his mother.
6: The ordination of Prince Arittha at Anuradhapura, under Arahat Mahinda on Sri Lanka.
7: The foundation of the celebrated Mahastupa & enshrinement of relics by King Dutugemunu.
8: The next day the yearly 3 months rains retreat (vassa) of Buddhist Bhikkhus start.
On such Uposatha Observance days:
Any Lay Buddhist simply joins the Three Refuges and undertakes
the Five Precepts like this: Newly bathed, shaved, white-clothed,
with clean bare feet, one kneels at a shrine with a Buddha-statue,
and bows first three times, so that feet, hands, elbows, knees and
head touch the floor. Then, with joined palms in front of the heart,
one recite these memorized lines in a loud, calm & steady voice:
As long as this life lasts: I hereby take refuge in the Buddha.
I hereby take refuge in the Dhamma.
I hereby take refuge in the Sangha.
I hereby seek shelter in the Buddha for the 2nd time.
I hereby seek shelter in the Dhamma for the 2nd time.
I hereby seek shelter in the Sangha for the 2nd time.
I hereby request protection from the Buddha for the 3rd time.
I hereby request protection from the Dhamma for the 3rd time.
I hereby request protection from the Sangha for the 3rd time.
I will hereby respect these Three Jewels the rest of my life!
I accept to respect & undertake these 5 training rules:
I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Killing.
I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Stealing.
I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Sexual Abuse.
I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Dishonesty.
I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Alcohol & Drugs.
As long as this life lasts, I am thus protected by these 5 precepts...
Then, one keeps and protects these sacred vows better than one's own
eyes & children!, since they protect you & all other beings much better
than any army! They are the highest offer one can give in & to this world!
This is the very start on the path towards Nibbāna -the Deathless Element-
This is the Noble Way to Peace, to Freedom, to Bliss, initiated by Morality,
developed further by Dhamma-Study and fulfilled by training of Meditation...
Today indeed is Pooya or uposatha or observance day, where any lay Buddhist
normally keeps the Eight Precepts from sunrise until the next dawn...
If any wish an official recognition by the Bhikkhu-Sangha, they may simply
forward the lines starting with "I..." signed with name, date, town & country
to me or join here. A public list of this new Saddhamma-Sangha is here!

Seeing the Disgusting Aspects of Food disables Craving! The Blessed Buddha once said:
The experience of loathsome disgust with all food, Bhikkhus & friends,
developed and frequently repeated, brings a high reward and blessing,
and has the Deathless Dimension as its basis & the very nearby goal.
Whoever, Bhikkhus & friends, often trains perceiving disgust with food,
his mind shrinks and turns away from voracious greed, he is neither
attracted, captivated or tempted, but feels only equanimity or disgust!
Just as, Bhikkhus & friends, a cock's feather or a piece of bowstring,
thrown into the fire, shrinks up, twists, rolls itself up, does not stretch
out again: just so in one who often entertains the experience of disgust
in all food, the mind shrinks back from greediness, turns away from it,
is repulsed by food, is not attracted; and equanimity or disgust arises!
Seeing it brings the danger and tribulation of having a fragile and sore body.
Seeing what it becomes like when chewed and sunk: Like dogs vomit!
Seeing that getting it daily costs one much pain of seeking, work & cleaning.
Seeing that it is turned into secretions as bile, pus, blood, snot, slime & spit.
Seeing that it undigested stays as vomit in the foul receptacle of the stomach.
Seeing that it when digested is turned into diarrheic brown fluid in the intestines.
Seeing that it causes a lifelong excretion of stinking messy excrement & urine.
Seeing the side effects of obesity, diabetes, cardiac failure and hypertension.

Wise Moderation in taking Food is quite Advantageous!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
How, Bhikkhus & friends, is material food to be considered?
Imagine, two persons, husband & wife, with only few provisions,
are wandering through a desert with their only child, their beloved
and dear little son. However in the middle of the desert, their food
runs out! Then this husband & wife think: Let us kill our only child,
our loved dear little son, prepare dried flesch, & thus while eating
this cross the rest of the desert. But, while eating this flesch, they
beat their breasts, weeping and lamenting: Where is our own little
son now? Where is our only child? What do you think, Bhikkhus &
friends: Do those two people eat their food for amusement, or for
pleasure, or to become handsome and beautiful?
No, Venerable Sir.
Do they eat the food, their son's flesch only to escape the desert?
Indeed so, Venerable Sir.
Exactly and even just so, Bhikkhus & friends, you I tell should one
regard all material food! Once one has fully understood material
food, one has also understood any greed for all five sense objects.
Once one has fully understood the greed for the 5 sense objects,
then there exists no more any mental chain, bound by which the
Noble Disciple should ever return again to this world...

The Ancient Elders said:
The tasty food and drink, so greatly prized
Crisp to chew, soft to suck, whatever it may be:
Through one door, a single hole, it is loaded in,
Through nine holes it later oozes out again.
The delicious drink, the dainty food,
Hard, soft, whatever it may be:
Man like to enjoy in crowded company,
Yet, when excreting it, he hides in secrecy.
The delightful drink, the delicate food,
Hot, cold, of many and various sorts:
Man may enjoy pleased with full delight,
Yet, when excreting it, he feels disgust.
The adored drink, the pleasing food,
Crunchy or pulpy, whatever it may be:
The whole, even after just one single night,
Will all become putrid, fetid and stinking....
Friends: The Really Rich are those who have gained a fine future! Venerable Sariputta once thanked the householder Anathapindika with
these verses:
When one has faith in the Tathagata,
Unshakable and well established,
And good conduct built on virtue,
Dear to the noble ones and praised;
When one has confidence in the Sangha
And view that has been rectified,
They say that one is not poor,
That one's life is not vain.
Therefore the person of intelligence,
Remembering the Buddha's Teaching,
Should be devoted to faith and virtue,
To confidence and vision of the Dhamma
Just as the many rivers used by the hosts of people,
Flowing downstream finally reach the ocean
As the rivers carry their waters to the sea.
The great mass of water, the boundless ocean,
The fearsome receptacle of heaps of gems;
So the streams of merit reach the wise man
Giver of food, drink, and clothes,
Provider of beds, seats, and coverlets
As the rivers carry their waters to the sea.
One who has Faith in the Three Jewels
who purifies his behaviour by good Morality
having given to those who seek the absolute
is really rich - most wealthy - even without a penny!

Friends: What are the 8 Deliverances (Attha Vimokkha)? The Blessed Buddha Once said: Bhikkhus: There are eight deliverances. Which are these?
1: Experiencing forms on one's own body, one visualizes internal
forms, as if they were external, (e.g. an organ, bone, tooth, or nail).
This is the first deliverance.
2: Experiencing external forms one perfectly visualizes these forms,
as if they right in front of one. (e.g. a pond, a mountain, or a galaxy).
This is the second deliverance.
3: Experiencing any form, one visualizes these as perfect images
and thus fixed & assured thinks: Oohh This is exquisitely beautiful!
This is the third deliverance.
4: Through the complete transcendence of experience of any form,
with the passing away and silencing of all sensory reaction, without
giving any attention to any experience of any diversity, detail or any
difference whatsoever, solely aware that space is infinite & endless,
one enters & dwells immersed in this subtle sphere of infinite space.
This is the fourth deliverance.
5: By the transcendence of this infinitude of space, just singly aware
that consciousness itself is infinite, one enters & dwells all immersed
in that formless non-spatial sphere of the infinitude of consciousness.
This is the fifth deliverance.
6: By wholly transcending this sphere of the infinite consciousness,
only aware of that there is nothing, one enters & dwells immersed in
this empty absent void of nothingness. This is the sixth deliverance.
7: By thoroughly transcending this open vacuity of void nothingness,
one enters, & dwells immersed in the refined & paradoxical sphere of
inert, inanimate, and stilled neither-perception-nor-non-perception.
This is the seventh deliverance.
8: By leaving all behind, and transcending even this placid sphere of
neither-perception-nor-non-perception, one approaches & reaches
the ultimate ceasing of all sensed experience, all perception & feeling!
This is the eighth deliverance. These, Bhikkhus & Friends, are indeed
the eight kinds of mental deliverance...

Any Noble Disciple who possesses these four things is a Stream-Enterer,
no longer bound to the painful worlds, fixed in destiny, with enlightenment as
his certain future destination. Furthermore, Nandaka, a Noble Disciple who
possesses these four things gets a very long life whether Divine or human!
He becomes endowed with exquisite body beauty, whether Divine or human!
He becomes endowed with a content happiness, whether Divine or human!
He becomes endowed with honour and fame, whether Divine or human!
He becomes endowed with a sovereign power, whether Divine or human!
I explain this to you, Nandaka, not having heard it from any recluse or priest!
Rather, I tell you just what I have known, seen, & understood directly myself.
When this was said, a man said to Nandaka, the minister of the Licchavis:
It is time for your bath, Sir. Enough now, I say, with that fake external bath...
This internal bath will suffice, namely, firm confidence in this Blessed One...
Friends: Experiencing the Right Things might cure illness instantly! Once when Venerable Girimananda was sick Buddha said to Ven. Ananda.
If you, Ananda, would go to the monk Girimananda and explain to him the
ten experiences, it may be that Girimananda's illness will stop at once.
And which are these ten experiences? They are:
1: The experience of Impermanence, and Transience (Anicca-Saññā).
2: The experience of No-Self, and Egoless Impersonality (Anatta-Saññā).
3: The experience of Loathsome Foulness, and Disgust (Asubha-Saññā).
4: The experience of Danger, Damage, and Disadvantage (Ādīnava-Saññā).
5: The experience of Leaving Behind, Removal; Giving up (Pahāna-Saññā).
6: The experience of Disillusion, Dispassion, & Detachment (Virāga-Saññā).
7: The experience of Ceasing, Stilling, and Final Finishing (Nirodha-Saññā).
8: The experience of Disgust with the world (Sabbaloka-Anabhirati-Saññā).
9: The experience of Fleeting of all formation (Sabbasankhāresu Anicca-Saññā)
10: The experience of Awareness by in-and-out breathing (Ānāpānasati-Saññā)
Having learnt and memorized these ten experiences from the Blessed One,
the Venerable Ananda went to the Venerable Girimananda and recited these
ten experiences to him. Then as soon as the Venerable Girimananda heard
these ten experiences his illness instantly subsided! This was thus the way
the Venerable Girimananda was cured and could rise from his sick-bed.... (To see and know that in advance takes a SammāSamBuddha!)

Friends: Experiencing Impermanence comprehends the futility of clinging!
The Blessed Buddha once said: What, Ananda, is experiencing impermanence, inconstancy & transience?
When a Bhikkhu, having gone to a forest, to the foot of a tree, or to an empty
place, reflects: all Form is Inconstant, all Feeling is Fleeting, all Experience
is Impermanent, all Mental Construction is Transient, all Consciousness is
Momentary and in this way remains noting the impermanence, inconstancy
and transience of these5 Clusters of Clinging...
Then this, Ananda, is the experience of impermanence...,
The perception of inconstancy... &
The sensation of transience...

Buddha furthermore explained: Bhikkhus, there is no lasting materiality, no lasting form whatsoever...
there is no lasting feeling whatsoever... there is no lasting perception whatsoever... there is no lasting mental construction whatsoever...
there is no lasting conscious awareness of anything whatsoever...
there is permanent, everlasting, eternal, not subject to change,
not transient, not vanishing, that will last as long as eternity... !!! SN 22.96/vol. iii, 144
All formations, all constructions are impermanent, transient, vanishing... MN 35/vol. i, 230
Whatever can arise and emerge, that also will surely cease... MN 56/vol. i, 380
Comments from the classical commentaries:
Impermanence is not Evident unless specifically looked for:
False Apparent Continuity covers up and camouflages Impermanence: The characteristic of impermanence does not become apparent because,
when rise and fall are not given attention, it is concealed by continuity...
However, when continuity is disrupted by observing rise & fall here & now,
the characteristic of impermanence becomes apparent in its true nature. Vism. Ch. xxi/p. 640
Moments of mental states always change as Iron darts hit:
Observing the abrupt Change of all States discloses their discrete nature:
When continuity is disrupted means, when it is exposed by observation of
the perpetual alteration of states as they go on occurring in succession.
For it is not through the connectedness of states, that the characteristic of
impermanence becomes apparent to one who rightly observes rise and fall,
but rather the characteristic becomes properly evident through their discrete
disconnectedness, regarded as if each moment were iron darts, hitting in on
reality one by one separately, instead of as a continuous flow of slow change. VismA. 824
All states rise and fall. This characteristic of change, ageing, & evanescence
is the universal impermanence of all worldly. Nothing here escapes change!
It is a distortion of view, perception, and thinking to regard anything as lasting!
Impermanence inherently implies suffering as all what is liked will evaporate!
Impermanence implies no-self as nothing remains identical as same identity!
Whether internal or external: It is only passing states - material & mental - ...
Experiencing impermanence thus also means seeing suffering and no-self! When realizing that all states passes on and evaporates instantly,
one realizes the impossible futility inherent in all forms of clinging.
It is like sand running out between the fingers. It can never be kept!
Nothing can ever be kept, owned, possessed, maintained, or retained!
So let it go. Release it! Relinquish it all. Do not fear. Nothing lasting is lost!
It was never your's anyway. It will go away by itself anyway. It is pain anyway!
It was never really the same anyway, & it will never ever return again anyway...

Friends: ExperiencingEgolessness Frees from the Futility of Egoism!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
What, Ananda, is the experience of no self, egolessness, & impersonality?
It is when the Bhikkhu considers thus:
The internal eye & all external visible forms are no self & neither me nor mine!
The internal ear & all external sounds are no self & neither me nor mine!
The internal nose & all external smells are no self & neither me nor mine!
The internal tongue & all tastes are no self & neither me nor mine!
The internal body & all touches are no self & neither me nor mine!
The internal mind & all mental states are no-self & neither me nor mine!
In this way he dwells in the experience of the egolessness of these six
internal and the six external sense sources as just receptors & inputs.
This, Ananda, is the experience of no self, egolessness, & impersonality!
The 6 internal sense sources are like an empty village: There is nobody home! They are just like doors empty of identity or self or what belongs to a self. The 6 external sense sources are like village robbers: They attack the senses! They are just like objects empty of identity or self or what belongs to a self.
Friends: How does rightly verified Faith lead to Nibbãna? The BlessedBuddha once said:

then the water runs down the slope and fills the clefts, gullies, and creeks.
When these brim over, then they replenish the pools, which fill up the lakes,
which supply the rivers, which run out in the great ocean...

this body from the soles of the feet upward, and back again from the top of
the hair downward, seeing it as frame of bones with a skin stretched over it,
and filled with much filthy putrescence such as: head-hairs, body-hairs, nails,
teeth, skin, flesh, sinews, bones, marrow, kidneys, heart, liver, vomit, spleen,
diaphragm, lungs, intestine, mesentery, stomach, excrement, brain, bile, lymph,
pus, blood, sweat, fat, tears, skin, tallow, spit, slime, snot, joint-fluid, & urine.
This is the experience of disgust.
The rewards are:
1: Absence of greed, lust, desire, craving, urge, need, longing and discontent.
2: Fearlessness of Death & thereby Fearlessness of All! = Elevated Joy!
Any Body is just a painted puppet!
A chain of bones plastered by skin with 9 oozing holes!
A heap of sores & rotten excrement with evil intentions!
Friends: How does the Noble live in Alert Elevated Joy? The BlessedBuddha once said:
How, Nandiya, does a Noble Disciple live in alert elevated joy?
Here, Nandiya, any Noble Disciple is endowed with verified conviction in the Buddha thus: Worthy, honourable & perfectly self-Enlightened is the Buddha!
Not satisfied with that verified conviction in the Buddha, he makes a further
effort in solitude by day and seclusion at night. When thus enthusiastic, he is
elevated by alertness! When thus elevated by alertness, then gladness is born.
When he is gladdened, joy arises. When the mind is uplifted by joy, the body
becomes tranquil. One tranquil in body experiences happiness. The mind of one
who is happy becomes concentrated. When mind is concentrated, even subtle
phenomena become plain and manifest. Since these subtle phenomena become
plain and manifest, he becomes one who lives in alert elevated joy...

Friends: ExperiencingDanger removes false Complacency of Lasting Safety!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
What, Ananda, is the experience of Danger?
Here the Bhikkhu considers thus: Truly, this body is prone to sickness, full of
countless painful Dangers. Many kinds of suffering arise in this body, such as:
Diseases of eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, head, mouth, tooth-ache, pneumonia,
asthma, colds, angina, fever, belly ache, fainting, diarrhoea, kidney failure,
cholera, leprosy, arthritis, psoriasis, tuberculosis, epilepsy, anaemia, scabies,
ring-worm, psychosis, bilious jaundice, diabetes, strokes & palsy, cancer, piles,
boils, fistulas, diseases brought about by cold, heat, starvation, disturbed or
failing excretion, disharmonic living, climatic changes, environmental pollution,
accidents, social unrest, stress or violence or due to kamma! Thus does he live
while regularly experiencing the inherent Danger of having a physical body.
This is the experience of Danger.

1: Realistic sensation of acute urgency.
2: Disables risky reliance on what is neither safe nor lasting.
3: Complete cure of the naive intoxication of youth, beauty and success!

ExperiencingElimination gradually removes the Three Evil Roots!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
What, Ananda, is the experience of Elimination?
Here the Bhikkhu does neither tolerate nor allow any thought joined with
greed, lust, desire, craving, urging or longing to arise and establish itself,
he eliminates it, eradicates it, overcomes it, dispels it and abandons it...
Also the Bhikkhu does neither tolerate nor allow any thought joined with
hate, anger, ill-will, irritation, or resentment to arise and establish itself,
he eliminates it, eradicates it, overcomes it, dispels it and abandons it...
Also the Bhikkhu does neither tolerate nor allow any thought joined with
cruelty, brutality, violence, or viciousness to arise and establish itself,
he eliminates it, eradicates it, overcomes it, dispels it and abandons it...
Similarly with all other arisen evil and disadvantageous mental states,
he does neither tolerate nor allow them to gain a footing before he right

destroys them, annihilates them, dispels them and abandons them...
When successful: Then this is the experience of Elimination!

section 55: Sotāpattisamyutta. Thread 55-74: The Fruits...
After you have taken the vow of sila (morality), fulfil it. Once you have fulfilled it, all your wishes will be fulfilled. It will bring happiness to you now and also in the future.
There is nothing besides the words of the Buddha that will bring peace and happiness to one in the present existence as well as in future lives in Samsara. The words of the Buddha are embodied in the Tipitaka, the three baskets of knowledge. The Tipitaka is voluminous, so we must take the essence of it. The essence of the Tipitaka is the Thirty-Seven Factors of the Bodhipakkhiya-Dhamma (the Requisites of Awakening). The essence of the Bodhipakkhiya-Dhamma is the Noble Eightfold Path. The essence of the Noble Eightfold Path is the three sikkhas (trainings), and the essence of the three sikkhas is Eko Dhammo or the One and Only Dhamma.
The three sikkhas are: adhi-sila (Higher morality), adhi-citta (Higher mentality), and adhi-pañña (Higher wisdom).
When one is mindful of rupa and nama (mind and matter), there will be no physical and mental violence. This is called adhi-sila (Higher morality).
When adhi-sila develops, the mind becomes concentrated and tranquil. This is called adhi-citta (higher mentality, higher concentration)
When adhi-citta (concentration [samádhi]) develops, one gains insight into the real nature of rupa and nama. In a flash of lightning, nama-rupa undergoes incessant change billions of times. This ever-changing process is beyond the control of any Deva or Brahma. One who knows by insight the process of becoming and cessation achieves adhi-pañña (higher wisdom).
The most obvious thing to one and all is the breathing process. The nose is a prominent part of the body. The out-breath and the in-breath are always touching the nostrils.
The nostrils are the sensitive part of the nose which the out-breaths and the in-breaths touch as they come out or go in. In other words, the wind element or element of motion comes into contact with the nostrils, producing a sensation. Both the wind element and the nostrils are rupa, and it is nama that knows the contact or sensation. Ask no one what rupa and nama are. Be mindful of the nostrils. One knows the sensation of breathing in. One knows the sensation of breathing out. Keep on knowing the in-breath and the out-breath and there will be no chance for lobha, dosa, and moha (greed, hatred, and ignorance) to arise. The fires of lobha, dosa, and moha remain extinguished and the result is calm and peace of mind.
One cannot know the sensation before contact is made. One can no longer know the sensation when the contact has disappeared. One must take notice of the actual contact. This is called the immediate present. Be mindful of the present continuously. If you can keep on knowing the present for twenty-four hours at a stretch, the good results will be evident. If you cannot be mindful of what is taking place at every moment continuously, you will fail to notice what happens in a flash of lightning and find yourself on the debit side.
If you are mindful of the contact of the breath on the nostrils, you will realize that there is only rupa and nama. Besides rupa and nama, there is no such thing as I, he, or you; there is no self, no man, no woman. You will know for yourself that the Buddha's Teaching is the truth, only the truth, nothing but the truth. You will not need to ask anyone about it. Awareness of the contact between the wind element and the tip of the nose produces there and then the knowledge that there is no such thing as Atta: ego or soul.
At these moments of awareness, one's nana (comprehension or insight) is clear. That is called samma-ditthi: Right Understanding or Right View. There is nothing else besides nama and rupa. This is called nama-rupa-pariccheda-nana, Analytical Knowledge of Mind and Body.
The continuous practise of this contemplation eliminates the notion of atta or self, and produces a clear vision or knowledge. This benefit is the result of momentary contemplation. Do no think it is not much. Do not think that nothing is known, that no benefit accrues during meditation. Such benefits can be gained only during the Buddha-Sasana. While meditating, forget about food and other necessities. Strive with diligence for progress in gaining the insight that will end in the realization of Magga-nana (Knowledge of the Path), Phala-nana (Knowledge of the Fruition State), and Nibbana.
The Path to be followed in this world:
1. The Teachings of the Buddha contained in the Tipitaka have but one object: liberation from suffering. Methods vary but the object is the same. It is not necessary to follow all the methods. Choose one of them, and then what is required is to put it into practice with adequate energy and in a steadfast manner.
2. Vijja (knowledge) and carana (conduct) must be developed simultaneously. Two things can be done at the same time.
3. Follow the Teaching of the Buddha as well as that of the teacher. Be respectful. Be humble. Khanti (patience) and Metta (loving kindness) must be practised assiduously.
4. Vipassana means to see what really is. Meditators must see things as they really are, otherwise it is not Vipassana.
5. What really is, is not to be sought elsewhere, it is in one's own body. It is ever present there. It is unavoidable. It is nama-rupa (mind-matter).
6. Of all the manifestations of nama and rupa in the body, the in-breath and out-breath are not easily recognizable but they are easy to contemplate.
7. The process of breathing in and breathing out begins with birth and only ends with death. It goes on without any pause or break. It is always there, whether one is working, talking, studying, or sleeping.
8. Although the process of breathing in and breathing out is continuous, it is hardly noticed by unmindful people. As the Burmese saying goes, "Those who are unmindful would not notice a cave. Those who are mindful would notice even the mist." Only those who are mindful will be aware of the breathing process.
9. Here, awareness means that the meditator takes note of the in-breath as it touches the nostrils and of the out-breath as it touches the nostrils. As breathing is continuous, so awareness must be continuous too. Only then can awareness be properly called Vipassana Meditation.
10. There are twenty-four hours in a day. If your awareness can be continuous for twenty-four hours, the beneficial results will be very clear. If possible, the ascetic practice of always sitting (nesajjika-dhutanga) should be performed. What the Buddha teaches is not suffering but the cessation of suffering. In the Buddha's lifetime, those who performed this ascetic practice of always sitting were healthier and lived longer. If you give in to sleepiness and go to sleep, you are likely to sleep forever in the round of rebirths (Samsara). If you wish to sleep, go to that place where no sleep is necessary.
11. Being mindful of what really is, or seeing things as they really are, that is the main purpose of the three sikkhas, the Noble Eightfold Path, the thirty-seven Bodhipakkhiyas, in short, of the entire Tipitaka. They are all covered, as it were, in one stroke.
12. Touch or contact is rupa. Knowing or awareness is nama.
13. Appearance and disappearance of vibrating manifestations are the process of becoming and cessation.
14. As meditators notice the swiftly changing process of appearance and disappearance of contact sensations at the nostrils, concentrated insight (Vipassana-samadhi) develops in due course, that is to say, after a considerable length of time. The concentration developed in this way becomes more and more intense until a meditator becomes aware of swiftly sweeping changes all over the body.
15. When these swiftly sweeping changes are seen with insight, the characteristic of Anicca becomes most obvious, and accordingly the characteristics of Dukkha and Anatta are also seen. It is not necessary to utter them by word of mouth. Vipassana meditation means being mindful of what actually happens. Mindfulness develops day by day, and consequently, meditators gain penetrating insight.
16. As meditators develop concentration, their insight develops as well, culminating in the realization of Path Knowledge (Magga-nana) and Fruition State Knowledge (Phala-nana). This realization is as evident and satisfying as quenching your thirst by drinking water. The meditator who has realized the Path and Fruition State has realized it by himself in this present lifetime, not hereafter. Therefore, the result of his practice is "seen by him himself and in his self" (sanditthiko).
17. After the Knowledge of the Path and the Knowledge of the Fruition State is attained, if someone wishes to regain the attainment of the Fruition State (Phala- samapatti), he has to return to the practice of Vipassana and progressive realization. The attainment of the Fruition State (Phala-samapatti) can be compared to one's own dwelling.
18. With firm faith and unflagging energy, be mindful of the contact of the breath with the nostrils without any let-up or break. Do not waver. Do not procrastinate. Do it now, and the sustained practice will yield results forthwith. The result is the end of being tormented by passions and the enjoyment of indescribable bliss. Therefore, the results of the practice are immediately effective (akaliko).
The Experience of Fading Away of Greed is induced by Disillusion!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
What, Ānanda, is the experience of fading away of greed through disillusion?
When a Bhikkhu retires to the forest, to the root of a tree, or an empty hut
& thinks thus: This is Peace, this is sublime, namely, the stilling of all mental
construction, the ending of all kammic formation, the evaporation of all fuel
of becoming, the ceasing of all craving, the relinquishing of all by detachment, Nibbāna... Then this very reflection itself is the experience of fading away...
Some Simple Comments: Fading Away/Disillusion means comprehending all as impermanence, pain & no-self!
Ceasing means complete fading away & absence of all greed, hate and ignorance!
Fading away of Greed by Disillusion is the proximate cause of all Mental Release... The Thinking on Fading Away of Greed by Disillusion, leads to Final Knowledge...
The Fading Away of Greed by Disillusion is one of the 18 Principal Insights...

Experiencing the Stilling of Craving is the Ceasing of all Suffering!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
What, Ānanda, is the experience of Ceasing?
When a Bhikkhu retires to the forest, to the root of a tree, or an empty hut
& thinks thus: This is Peace, this is sublime, namely, the stilling of all mental
construction, the ending of all kammic formation, the evaporation of all fuel
of becoming, the ceasing of all craving, the relinquishing of all by detachment, Nibbāna... Then this very reflection itself is the experience of Ceasing ...
Some Simple Comments:
Ceasing means complete ending of & total absence of all greed, hate and ignorance! Cultivating reflection on Ceasing leaves all desire for initiation, & origination behind!
Friends: For What do Men of good family go forth into Homelessness? Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this:
Bhikkhus, whatever clansmen in the past rightly went forth into homelessness,
all did so in order to breakthrough to the Four Noble Truths as they really are.
Whatever clansmen in the future will rightly go forth into homelessness, all will
do so in order to breakthrough to these Four Noble Truths as they really are!!
Whoever clansman at present has rightly gone forth into homelessness, he has
only done so to breakthrough to the same Four Noble Truths just as they are!
What four?
The Noble Truth of Suffering,
The Noble Truth of the Cause of Suffering,
The Noble Truth of the Ceasing of Suffering,
The Noble Truth of the Way leading to the Ceasing of Suffering.
Whatever clansmen rightly went forth... will rightly go forth... have rightly gone
forth from household life into homelessness, all have done so in order to make
the breakthrough to these Four Noble Truths as they actually and really are.
Therefore, Bhikkhus, an effort should be mobilized to completely understand: This is Suffering; This is the Cause of Suffering; This is the End of Suffering; This is the way leading to the End of Suffering... An effort should be made to
understand, comprehend, penetrate, recognize & realize these 4 Noble Truths!

Those who neglects that effort and ignores it, prolongs the Samsaric round... Friends, it is by not understanding, by not penetrating the Four Noble Truths
that both you & I have cycled bewildered in birth-&-death for an eternity...
Simile: The worldling resorts back to the world like a worm resorts back to its hole!
The Noble freed by disappointment leans, tends & inclines towards Nibbana!
The Reward is:
Approach to Nibbāna by relinquishing all longing back to this or any world!
Friends: What 4 actual objects of Thinking are always Advantageous?
Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this:
Bhikkhus do not accept to think any evil disadvantageous thoughts such as:
1: Thoughts on or mixed with Sensual Desire...
2: Thoughts on mixed with Ill Will or Anger...
3: Thoughts on mixed with Harm & Violence...
Since all these thoughts are irrelevant and even detrimental to the basics of
the Noble life & they furthermore do neither induce revulsion, nor disillusion,
nor ceasing, nor Peace, nor any direct knowledge of Enlightenment & Nibbāna.
When you think, Bhikkhus, you should only think thoughts like these:
Friends: How to be a Real Buddhist through Observance? Nikini Poya day is the full-moon of August. On such Observance days:
I hereby seek shelter in the Sangha for the 2nd time.I hereby request protection from the Buddha for the 3rd time.
I hereby request protection from the Dhamma for the 3rd time.
I hereby request protection from the Sangha for the 3rd time.
I will hereby respect these Three Jewels the rest of my life! I accept to respect & undertake these 5 training rules: I hereby accept the training rule of avoiding all Killing.
Then, one keeps and protects these sacred vows better than one's
own eyes & children!, since they protect you & all other beings much
better than any army! They are the highest offer one can give in & to
this world! So is the start towards Nibbāna: the Deathless Element!
This is the Noble Way to Peace, to Freedom, to Ease, to Happiness,
initiated by Morality, developed further by Dhamma-Study and
fulfilled by training of Meditation...
Experiencing the Transience of all Constructions Releases Mind!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
What, Ānanda, is the experience of the Transience of all Constructions?
It is when the Bhikkhu feels horror, disgust, and repulsing repugnance with
all formations, with all constructions, with all conditions, with all states...
This itself is the very experience of the Transience of all Constructions...

Instantly, Inevitably & Invariably All States break up, fade away & vanish...
Even a Serial Killer can turn Good & also Awaken as Arahat!
Angulimāla killed 999 humans, yet later became an eminent Arahat!
Here are his inspirations from his later forest life in harmless bliss:
He whose past misdeeds are covered later by good deeds;
illuminates this world, as does the moon freed from all clouds.
Who once did live in negligence, and then is negligent no more,
He illuminates this world, like the moon freed from all clouds.
Who repays the evil deeds he did, by doing beneficial good instead,
He illuminates this world, like the moon freed from all clouds.
Any young Bhikkhu who devotes his life to the Buddha's Dhamma,
He illuminates this world, like the moon freed from all clouds.
Let my enemies but hear this discourse on the Dhamma,
Let them be devoted to the Buddha's Teaching,
Let my enemies wait on those good people,
Who guide others to accept the Dhamma...
Let my enemies pay attention from time to time, yet again & again,
And hear the Doctrine as told by real men who preach forbearance,
Of those who also speak in high praise of kind & gentle friendliness,
And let them follow up on that Noble Dhamma by friendly behaviour.
For surely those who will not wish to harm you, me or anyone else,
Those who wish to protect all beings, tiny or huge, feeble or strong,
They will thus approach and attain the all-surpassing highest peace...
Canal-makers guide the water, Fletchers straighten out the arrow,
Carpenters plane the planks, But clever men train to tame the mind!
There are some that tame with beatings, with goads and with whips;
But I was tamed by a Worthy who had no knife, rod, nor any weapon.
Harmless is the name I now bear, yet I was dangerous in the past!!!
The name I bear today is true: Now I harm no living being at all...
And though I once lived as a notorious killer named Finger-garland#
Swept along by the great flood, I went for refuge to the Buddha.
And though I once was cruel, bloody-handed & named Finger-garland,
See the refuge I now have found: The bond of being has been all cut!
While I did many deeds that lead to rebirth in the bad realms of pain,
Yet their result has passed me now and so I can eat free from debt*.
They are fools who have no shame, who give themselves to negligence;
But those wise guard alertness & treat it as their greatest treasure!
Do not give way to negligence, nor seek delight in sensual pleasures,
But meditate with diligence, and reach this perfect blissful peace...
Well indeed was that choice of mine, let it stand, as it was not wrong
Of all the teachings known to humans, I have found the very best!
Well indeed was that choice of mine, let it stand, since it was not ill,
I have gained the triple knowledge & done all that the Buddha told.
I stayed in forests, at the root of a tree, in the cool mountain caves
But wherever I went, I was always mentally agitated and troubled...
But now I rest and rise in easy happiness & happily I spend my life.
For now I am free of Mara's snares, thanx to the Master's pity!
A Brahmin was I by descent, On both sides high and purely born.
Today I am the Master's son, My Teacher is the Dhamma-King...
Freed of craving, not clinging, with guarded senses, well restrained,
Spit out have I the root of evil, and stilled all mental fermentations.
The Master has been waited on & what should be done has been done!
The heavy load is put down. What induce new becoming is rooted out.
Note on the nick-name: #Finger-garland!He was named Finger-garland, since he wore a finger of those 999
human beings he killed threaded as a chain around his neck...!!!
Note on being *free of depts The awakened Arahat has done what he should and can thus eat the
alms-food given by others without becoming in dept. Other bhikkhus
eat the alms-food in dept as there is still something they have to do...
Experiencing the Right Things might cure illness instantly!
Once when Venerable Girimananda was sick, the Buddha said to Ven. Ānanda.
What is the experience of acute Awareness by in-&-out Breathing?
It is when a Bhikkhu, who have gone to the forest, or to the root of a tree,
or to an empty hut, there he sits down cross-legged, having straightened his
body and back, & set up awareness around the nostrils, then just plain aware
of that itself he breathes in, & then just solely aware of only that breathing
in itself he breathes out...
1: Breathing in-&-out long, he knows, notes & understands: I in-&-exhale long!
2: Breathing in short, he knows, notes & understands: I in-&-exhale short!
3: He trains thus: Experiencing this entire body, I will breathe in-&out!
4: He trains thus: Calming all bodily activity, I will breathe in-&out!
5: He trains thus: Experiencing enraptured joy, I will breathe in-&out!
6: He trains thus: Experiencing a happy pleasure, I will breathe in-&out!
7: He trains thus: Experiencing all mental activity, I will breathe in-&out!
8: He trains thus: Calming all mental activity, I will breathe in-&out!
9: He trains thus: Experiencing the present mood, I will breathe in-&out!
10: He trains thus: Elating & gladdening the mind, I will breathe in-&out!
11: He trains thus: Concentrating & focusing mind, I will breathe in-&out!
12: He trains thus: Releasing, & liberating the mind, I will breathe in-&out!
13: He trains thus: Considering impermanence, I will breathe in-&out!
14: He trains thus: Considering detachment, I will breathe in-&out!
15: He trains thus: Considering ceasing, I will breathe in-&out!
16: He trains thus: Considering relinquishment, I will breathe in-&out!
Having learnt and memorized these 16 simple steps from the Blessed One,
the Venerable Ānanda went to the Venerable Girimananda and recited these
to him. Then as soon as Venerable Girimananda heard these 16 simple steps
& the ten experiences his illness instantly subsided & he rose from his bed!
This was thus the way Venerable Girimananda was cured from his sickness....

Friends: What 4 Objects of Clinging are always inevitable Suffering?
The Blessed Buddha once said this:
Bhikkhus & Friends there are these Four Noble Truths. What four? The Noble Truth of Suffering; The Noble Truth on the Cause of Suffering; The Noble Truth on the End of Suffering; The Noble Truth on the Way to end Suffering... These are the Four Noble Truths!
What, Bhikkhus & Friends, is the 1st Noble Truth of Suffering?
These Five Clusters of Clinging are Suffering! The cluster of clinging to Material Form (Rūpa) is Suffering... The cluster of clinging to Mental Feeling (Vedanā) is Suffering...
The cluster of clinging to Mental Perception (Saññā) is Suffering...
The cluster of clinging to Mental Construction (Sankhāra) is Suffering...
The cluster of clinging to bare Consciousness (Viññāna) itself is Suffering...
This is verily the 1st Noble Truth of Suffering!
What, Bhikkhus & Friends, is the 2nd Noble Truth on the Cause of Suffering?
It is this Craving, which leads to renewed becoming joined by delight and lust,
seeking delight now here & later there! That is craving for sensual pleasures,
craving for becoming (ex. rich) this & the craving for not-becoming that (sick).
This is indeed the 2nd Noble Truth on the Cause of Suffering!
What, Bhikkhus & Friends, is the 3rd Noble Truth on the Ceasing of Suffering?
It is the traceless fading away & complete ceasing of that very same craving,
the giving up & relinquishing of it, the freedom from it, & non-dependence on it.
This is actually the 3rd Noble Truth on the Ceasing of all Suffering!
What is the 4th Noble Truth on the Way leading to the ceasing of Suffering?
It is this Noble 8-fold Way namely: Right View (sammā-ditthi) Right Motivation (sammā-sankappa) Right Speech (sammā-vācā) Right Action (sammā-kammanta) Right Livelihood (sammā-ājīva) Right Effort (sammā-vāyāma) Right Awareness (sammā-sati) Right Concentration (sammā-samādhi) This is the 4th Noble Truth on the Way leading to the ceasing of Suffering!
Friends: What is always & inevitably a sour source of Suffering?
The Blessed Buddha once said this:
Bhikkhus & Friends there are these Four Noble Truths. What four? The Noble Truth of Suffering; The Noble Truth on the Cause of Suffering; The Noble Truth on the End of Suffering; The Noble Truth on the Way to end Suffering... These are the Four Noble Truths!
What, Bhikkhus & Friends, is the 1st Noble Truth of Suffering?
These Six Sources of Sensing are Suffering! The sense source of the eye is Suffering... The sense source of the ear is Suffering...
The sense source of the nose is Suffering...
The sense source of the tongue is Suffering...
The sense source of the bodyis Suffering... The sense source of the mind itselfis Suffering...
This is thus verily the 1st Noble Truth of Suffering!

When is one wrapped up in & covered by blind Ignorance?
Once a certain not very well-known Bhikkhu asked the Blessed Buddha:
Venerable Sir, ignorance, ignorance, is it said! What is ignorance?
Venerable Sir, in what way is one wrapped up in ignorance? The Blessed Gotama Buddha then pointed out: Not Knowing Suffering is ignorance; Not Knowing The Cause of Suffering is ignorance; Not Knowing The End of Suffering is ignorance; Not Knowing The Way to end Suffering is ignorance... All this absence of understanding is ignorance & it is by that blindness, that dark state of blocked insight, that one is wrapped up in ignorance! Therefore, Bhikkhu, an effort should be made much of to understand: Such is Suffering; an effort should be made much of to comprehend: Such is the Cause of Suffering; an effort should be made so to realize: Such is the End of Suffering; An effort should be made to penetrate, recognize, & develop, Such is the Way leading to the End of Suffering...

Magnificent, Master Gotama!... Marvellous, Master Gotama!... We hereby take
refuge in the Master Gotama, his Dhamma, & in the Bhikkhu Sangha. From today
let the Blessed One know us as lay followers who have gone for refuge for life!

Entering the Stream Supreme!!!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
Bhikkhus and Friends: Once the mental release by infinite Friendliness
has been developed, frequently practised, firmly established, expanded,
made a vehicle & foundation, and brought to full perfection, then it will
be impossible for ill-will may take possession of and obsess the mind,
for the mental release by infinite friendliness is the deliverance from ill-will!

The Blessed Buddha once said:
Some priests postulate this as the way going upwards: "Get up early and walk facing east.

As long as this life lasts:
I hereby take refuge in the Buddha.

Without Fear!!!

The experience of Disgust in Food includes:

The tasty food and drink, so greatly prized
Crisp to chew, soft to suck, whatever it may be:
Through one door, a single hole, it is loaded in,
Through nine holes it later oozes out again.
The delicious drink, the dainty food,
Hard, soft, whatever it may be:
Man like to enjoy in crowded company,
Yet, when excreting it, he hides in secrecy.
The delightful drink, the delicate food,
Hot, cold, of many and various sorts:
Man may enjoy pleased with full delight,
Yet, when excreting it, he feels disgust.
The adored drink, the pleasing food,
Crunchy or pulpy, whatever it may be:
The whole, even after just one single night,
Will all become putrid, fetid and stinking....

The Really Rich are those who have gained a fine future!
Venerable Sariputta once thanked the householder Anathapindika with
these verses:
Unshakable and well established,
And good conduct built on virtue,
Dear to the noble ones and praised;
When one has confidence in the Sangha
And view that has been rectified,
They say that one is not poor,
That one's life is not vain.
Therefore the person of intelligence,
Remembering the Buddha's Teaching,
Should be devoted to faith and virtue,
To confidence and vision of the Dhamma
Just as the many rivers used by the hosts of people,
Flowing downstream finally reach the ocean
As the rivers carry their waters to the sea.
The great mass of water, the boundless ocean,
The fearsome receptacle of heaps of gems;
So the streams of merit reach the wise man
Giver of food, drink, and clothes,
Provider of beds, seats, and coverlets
As the rivers carry their waters to the sea.
One who has Faith in the Three Jewels
who purifies his behaviour by good Morality
having given to those who seek the absolute
is really rich - most wealthy - even without a penny!

The Blessed Buddha Once said:
I am a friend and helper to all,
I am sympathetic to all living beings.
I develop a mind full of love
and takes always delight in harmlessness.
I gladden my mind, fill it with joy,
and make it immovable and unshakable.

I am a friend of the footless,
I am a friend of the bipeds;
I am a friend of those with four feet,
I am a friend of the many-footed.
May not the footless harm me,
may not the bipeds harm me,

What are the 8 Deliverances (Attha Vimokkha)?
The Blessed Buddha Once said:
Bhikkhus: There are eight deliverances.

Buddha once said to Nandaka, Licchavi minister in Kūtāgārasālā in Vesāli.
Nandaka, a Noble Disciple who possesses four things is a Stream-Enterer,
who is no longer bound to the lower world, who is fixed in destiny, who has
won enlightenment as his assured future destination. What four things?

4: Any Noble controls Morality esteemed by Noble Ones: Unbroken, pure...

The Internal Bath!
Experiencing the Right Things might cure illness instantly!

Experiencing Impermanence comprehends the futility of clinging!
The Blessed Buddha once said:
What, Ananda, is experiencing impermanence, inconstancy & transience?
When a Bhikkhu, having gone to a forest, to the foot of a tree, or to an empty
place, reflects: all Form is Inconstant, all Feeling is Fleeting, all Experience
is Impermanent, all Mental Construction is Transient, all Consciousness is
Momentary and in this way remains noting the impermanence, inconstancy
and transience of these 5 Clusters of Clinging...
Then this, Ananda, is the experience of impermanence...,
The perception of inconstancy... &
The sensation of transience...
Source (edited extract):
Numerical Discourses of the Buddha. Anguttara Nikaya AN 10:60, AN V 108ff.
Girimananda Sutta http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/an/an10/an10.060.than.html
Buddha furthermore explained:
Bhikkhus, there is no lasting materiality, no lasting form whatsoever...
there is no lasting feeling whatsoever...
there is no lasting perception whatsoever...
there is no lasting mental construction whatsoever...
there is no lasting conscious awareness of anything whatsoever...
there is permanent, everlasting, eternal, not subject to change,
not transient, not vanishing, that will last as long as eternity... !!!
SN 22.96/vol. iii, 144
All formations, all constructions are impermanent, transient, vanishing...
MN 35/vol. i, 230
Whatever can arise and emerge, that also will surely cease...
MN 56/vol. i, 380
Impermanence is not Evident unless specifically looked for:
False Apparent Continuity covers up and camouflages Impermanence:
The characteristic of impermanence does not become apparent because,
when rise and fall are not given attention, it is concealed by continuity...

How to become a Good Lay Buddhist Disciple?
Mahānāma the Sakyan once asked the Blessed Buddha:
Venerable Sir, What is a Lay Disciple?
Having taken refuge in the Buddha, Dhamma, & Sangha, one is a Lay Disciple!
Venerable Sir, What is a Pure Disciple?
Avoiding all killing, stealing, sexual abuse, lying, and neither drinking any
alcohol nor taking any drugs causing neglect, one is a Pure Disciple!
Venerable Sir, What is a Faithful Disciple?
Placing faith in the Enlightenment of the Tathāgata thus:
Worthy, honourable & perfectly self-Enlightened is the Buddha! ... teacher &
guide of gods & humans, exalted, & awakened ... one is a Faithful Disciple!
Venerable Sir, What is a Generous Disciple?
Living mentally devoid stinginess, liberal, open-handed, delighting in donation,
devoted to charity, enjoying all giving & sharing, one is a Generous Disciple!
Venerable Sir, What is a Disciple who Understands?
One who has understanding of emergence & ceasing, which is Noble, decisive,
& which enables eradication of Suffering is a wise Disciple who Understands!

The Lay Disciple!
Experiencing Egolessness Frees from the Futility of Egoism!

How does rightly verified Faith lead to Nibbãna?
The Blessed Buddha once said:
Bhikkhus, just exactly as, when rain pours down in heavy drops on a mountain,
then the water runs down the slope and fills the clefts, gullies, and creeks.
When these brim over, then they replenish the pools, which fill up the lakes,
which supply the rivers, which run out in the great ocean...
Similarly for any Noble Disciple, do verified confidence in the Three Jewels
the Buddha, the Dhamma, & the Sangha, and morality praised by the Nobles
flow onwards & beyond, leading to eradication of the 3 Mental Fermentations.

the hair downward, seeing it as frame of bones with a skin stretched over it,
and filled with much filthy putrescence such as: head-hairs, body-hairs, nails,

How does the Noble live in Alert Elevated Joy?
The Blessed Buddha once said:
How, Nandiya, does a Noble Disciple live in alert elevated joy?
Here, Nandiya, any Noble Disciple is endowed with verified conviction in the
Buddha thus: Worthy, honourable & perfectly self-Enlightened is the Buddha!

Experiencing Danger removes false Complacency of Lasting Safety!

Similarly with all other arisen evil and disadvantageous mental states,
he does neither tolerate nor allow them to gain a footing before he right
there & then, quickly, on the very spot eliminates them, overcomes them,
destroys them, annihilates them, dispels them and abandons them...

What, Ānanda, is the experience of fading away of greed through disillusion?
When a Bhikkhu retires to the forest, to the root of a tree, or an empty hut
& thinks thus: This is Peace, this is sublime, namely, the stilling of all mental
construction, the ending of all kammic formation, the evaporation of all fuel
of becoming, the ceasing of all craving, the relinquishing of all by detachment,
Nibbāna... Then this very reflection itself is the experience of fading away...

What are the 4 Fuels of becoming into Existence (Upadhi)?
1: Sense-desire is one kind of fuel upon which the fire of existence burns.
2: The 5 Clusters of Clinging is another fuel upon which the fire of existence burns.
3: The Mental Defilements are also fuels upon which the fire of existence burns.
4: Formation of Kamma by Intention is a fuel upon which the fire of existence burns.

What are the Benefits of Training Mental Concentration?
Once in Savatthi the Blessed Buddha said this:
Bhikkhus, train and develop concentration. A Bhikkhu who is concentrated
understands things as they really are and as they really become! How?
He understands as it really is: This & such is Suffering,
He understands as it really is: This & such is the Cause of Suffering,
He understands as it really is: This & such is the Ending of Suffering,
He understands as it really is: This is the Way leading to the End of Suffering,
Bhikkhus, develop concentration! A Bhikkhu who is concentrated understands
not only the appearance, but things as they really are & as they really become!
Therefore, Bhikkhus, an effort should be made to comprehensively understand:
This is Suffering; This is the Cause of Suffering; This is the End of Suffering;
This is the way leading to the End of Suffering... An effort should be made to
comprehend, fathom, grasp, understand & penetrate these Four Noble Truths!

For What do Men of good family go forth into Homelessness?
Therefore, Bhikkhus, an effort should be mobilized to completely understand:
This is Suffering; This is the Cause of Suffering; This is the End of Suffering;
This is the way leading to the End of Suffering... An effort should be made to

concern for the world, longing for the world, tendency & inclination towards
the world, adherence & devotion to the world, bias, all this a Bhikkhu leaves,

What 4 actual objects of Thinking are always Advantageous?
This is Suffering;
This is the Cause of Suffering;
This is the Ending of Suffering;
This is the Way leading to the End of Suffering...
Why so?
These thoughts are of core relevance and highly advantageous to the basics of
the Noble life & they furthermore gradually induce both revulsion, detachment,
stilling, Peace, and direct knowledge of Enlightenment & Nibbāna. Therefore,
Bhikkhus, an effort should be made much of so to completely understand:
This is Suffering; This is the Cause of Suffering; This is the End of Suffering;
This is the Way leading to the End of Suffering... An effort should be made to
understand, comprehend, penetrate, recognize & realize these 4 Noble Truths!

How to be a Real Buddhist through Observance?
Nikini Poya day is the full-moon of August. On such Observance days:
Any Lay Buddhist simply joins the Three Refuges and undertakes
the Five Precepts like this: Newly bathed, shaved, white-clothed,
with clean bare feet, one kneels at a shrine with a Buddha-statue,
and bows first three times, so that feet, hands, elbows, knees and
head touch the floor. Then, with joined palms in front of the heart,
one recite these memorized lines in a loud, calm & steady voice:
As long as this life lasts:
I hereby take refuge in the Buddha.
I hereby take refuge in the Dhamma.
I hereby take refuge in the Sangha.
I hereby seek shelter in the Buddha for the 2nd time.
I hereby seek shelter in the Dhamma for the 2nd time.
Today indeed is Pooya or uposatha or observance day, where any lay
Buddhist normally keeps the Eight Precepts from sunrise until the
next dawn... If any wish an official recognition by the Bhikkhu-Sangha,
they may simply forward the lines starting with "I hereby ..." signed with
name, date, town & country to me or join here.
A public list of this new Saddhamma-Sangha is set up here!

Here are his inspirations from his later forest life in harmless bliss:
He whose past misdeeds are covered later by good deeds;
illuminates this world, as does the moon freed from all clouds.
There are some that tame with beatings, with goads and with whips;
They are fools who have no shame, who give themselves to negligence;

Note on the nick-name: #Finger-garland! He was named Finger-garland, since he wore a finger of those 999
human beings he killed threaded as a chain around his neck...!!!
Note on being *free of depts
The awakened Arahat has done what he should and can thus eat the
alms-food given by others without becoming in dept. Other bhikkhus
eat the alms-food in dept as there is still something they have to do...

Experiencing the Breath!
What 4 Objects of Clinging are always inevitable Suffering?
The Blessed Buddha once said this:
Bhikkhus & Friends there are these Four Noble Truths. What four?
The Noble Truth of Suffering;
The Noble Truth on the Cause of Suffering;
The Noble Truth on the End of Suffering;
The Noble Truth on the Way to end Suffering...
It is this Noble 8-fold Way namely:
Right View (sammā-ditthi)
Right Motivation (sammā-sankappa)
Right Speech (sammā-vācā)
Right Action (sammā-kammanta)
Right Livelihood (sammā-ājīva)
Right Effort (sammā-vāyāma)
Right Awareness (sammā-sati)
Right Concentration (sammā-samādhi)
This is the 4th Noble Truth on the Way leading to the ceasing of Suffering!
These, Bhikkhu and Friends, are the Four Noble Truths. Therefore, Bhikkhus
and Friends, an effort should be made much of, so to completely understand:
This is Suffering; This is the Cause of Suffering; This is the End of Suffering;
This is the Way leading to the End of Suffering...
An effort should be made to
understand, comprehend, penetrate, recognize & realize these 4 Noble Truths !

Clustered Truths!
What is always & inevitably a sour source of Suffering?
The Blessed Buddha once said this:
Bhikkhus & Friends there are these Four Noble Truths. What four?
The Noble Truth of Suffering;
The Noble Truth on the Cause of Suffering;
The Noble Truth on the End of Suffering;
The Noble Truth on the Way to end Suffering...
These are the Four Noble Truths!
What, Bhikkhus & Friends, is the 1st Noble Truth of Suffering ?
These Six Sources of Sensing are Suffering!
The sense source of the eye is Suffering...
The sense source of the ear is Suffering...
The sense source of the nose is Suffering...
The sense source of the tongue is Suffering...
The sense source of the body is Suffering...
The sense source of the mind itself is Suffering...
This is thus verily the 1st Noble Truth of Suffering!

Six Sour Sense Sources!
Once a certain not very well-known Bhikkhu asked the Blessed Buddha:
Venerable Sir, ignorance, ignorance, is it said! What is ignorance?
Venerable Sir, in what way is one wrapped up in ignorance?
The Blessed Gotama Buddha then pointed out:
Not Knowing Suffering is ignorance;
Not Knowing The Cause of Suffering is ignorance;
Not Knowing The End of Suffering is ignorance;
Not Knowing The Way to end Suffering is ignorance...
All this absence of understanding is ignorance & it is by that blindness,
that dark state of blocked insight, that one is wrapped up in ignorance!
Therefore, Bhikkhu, an effort should be made much of to understand:
Such is Suffering; an effort should be made much of to comprehend:
Such is the Cause of Suffering; an effort should be made so to realize:
Such is the End of Suffering; An effort should be made to penetrate,
recognize, & develop, Such is the Way leading to the End of Suffering...

What is Ignorance?
What is simple & straight yet also infinitely deep & intricate?
Once the Blessed Buddha said this:
This Noble Truth of Suffering has been made known by me;
This Noble Truth on The Cause of Suffering has been made known by me;
This Noble Truth on The End of Suffering has been made known by me;
This Noble Truth on The Way to End Suffering has been made known by me!
Within these 4 Noble Truths there are innumerable meanings & implications,
a myriad of shades & nuances and countless aspects, features and details...
Therefore, Bhikkhu, an effort should be made much of to understand:
All this is Suffering; an effort should be made much of to comprehend:
Craving is the Cause of Suffering! An effort should be made so to realize:
No Craving is the End of Suffering! An effort should be made to penetrate,
remember, and develop: This Noble 8-fold Way which ceases all Suffering...
