Haikus are a poetical form originating in Japan. They have a very formal structure. Seventeen syllables of five seven and five in three lines.
There is a popular jazz standard from the 50's called Moonlight In Vermont.
Its verses are an example of haiku.
The first verse goes.
Pennies in a stream
Falling leaves, a sycamore
Moonlight in Vermont.
Continuing the Fall/autumn mood here is one of mine.
The yellowing leaves
A growing heap the wind steals
passing through willows.
Anyone else ?

Still imaginings
Gingerly leaves travel both
Up and down and up
I think we are up and running..

Rose hips glow in the hedgerow
Morning puja bell.
The sky a deep blue velvet
Chenrezig's diamonds.
In the blazing coal embers
Sparks on their voyage
Oh, those waves on the water.
It's their true nature.
Like thoughts carried on the breath
All harshness dissolved.
Countless stars shine in the sky
Blanketing this rock
in cool breath shiver mirrors
which light is killing.
My ear cannot hear the sound
The mind holds the sound
Problems melt away like rain
No need to gain time
Don't take them too seriously -
Just be creative!
