Need material for non-buddhist about being present

Friends.

I have a friend who suffer much from pondering the future.
She feels like she have to plan everything but still knowing that the plans probably will fail, and therefore
have a negative view on life itself. I want to give her something to read about the meaninglessness in worrying about the
future, but cannot find anything that would be appropriate for a non-buddhist to read, since I am still new to buddhism myself.

So basicly I am looking for a text that would capture her interest about the subject.
Would you help me with this?

Thank you. =)

"The Miracle of Mindfulness" by Tich Naht Hahn is worth a read.

You might be able to find something here

    http://www.mindandlife.org/publications/

They take Buddhist principles and practices and put them through the scientific wringer which launders out most notions of "Buddhism".

Or try to find something on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Buddhist mindfulness meditation without the Buddhism.

Worrying about the future is as lacking in common sense as imagining you could adequately prepare for it. Either way, my sense is that the only cure is to "go ahead! knock yourself out!" ... and then bit by bit gather the courage to examine such a self-serving course.
