Signs of the Buddha

lobsterlobster Crusty Veteran

There are signs, symbols, maybe wheels, flags, statues, footprints all around me. Here for example is a sign in Dulwich Park quite near to me. Any signs noted around you that trigger dharma rememberance, maybe a mantra recitation or a bit of mindfulness?

Nice one @lobster‌. I'll keep a look out.

I always remember seeing a shoe shop near me with a sign on the window "Change your shoes, change your life". I wanted to stick a piece of paper over the word "shoes" with "mind" written on it.

    Thanks guys,

The sand reminded me of Bodhi Bill Blake

To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
    And eternity in an hour.

. . . so we notice the butterfly as an emblem of transformation and hence a symbol of?
    Transience? Change? Gotama to Buddha?

What about the stones as our solid encrustations? The ground of being?

The path we are on . . .

The air as the element of thought?

    Colour as sensation arising . . . ?

. . . we live in a Pureland? Do we need obvious associations to start with?

Here is a modified 'Cul de sac' sign I came across . . .

    Something for the Christians . . . ;)

Heck, do you have any idea just how much energy it takes to hold that position for even a few minutes - !?! Wow.....

@federica . . . it is a conjuring 'trick', an assisted illusion. However better to be wowed. It still needs stillness . . .

There is an stage illusion I don't know how it is done. I leave it that way, because even though I know all the classics, this box juggling one is new, I never came across it when I studied conjuring and trying to figure it out is still fun . . .

Below is an old illusion and nothing more - baffling for some. I should imagine the 'Nepalese Monk' is from the local take away . . . the 'impressed' magician would know this most basic of lifts in front of curtains . . .

Sadly people are attracted to signs and wonders.

I spoke to the guy all in grey standing off to the side after I took this photo. When I asked him about them he responded in a very thick accent "They're German....."

Not sure what he meant by that.
